The bridge project, over 2.3km long across the estuary in Hue City, has basically completed the spans. The contractor is focusing on constructing the remaining parts of the two main spans to join them together.

According to the reporter of Giao thong Newspaper in mid-January 2025, the bridge project across Thuan An estuary, part of the coastal road project through Hue City - phase 1, is being accelerated by contractors taking advantage of the clear weather.

At the construction site, especially the area of the two main spans tens of meters above sea level, the team of engineers and workers are working hard to complete this important project in the first quarter of 2025 as planned.

The bridge project across Thuan An estuary, part of the coastal road project through Hue City, phase 1, started on March 26, 2022, and to date the implementation value has reached more than 72%.

Notably, the bridge across Thuan An estuary is a large project, 2.360km long, 20m wide, with the main span width of the bridge being widened to 23.5m due to the arrangement of a 2.5m wide tower and safety strips on both sides. The bridge is permanently constructed with reinforced concrete and prestressed reinforced concrete, with a design live load of HL93.

The superstructure for the main span over Thuan An gate with a diagram of 3 spans (120+218+120)m of Extradosed girders, the girder span is constructed by the balanced cantilever method, then the cable is stretched; the approach span consists of 2 continuous girder spans (55+90+55)m made of prestressed reinforced concrete constructed by the balanced cantilever method and super-T girder spans.

Substructure, reinforced concrete piers, on bored pile foundation system with diameter D1.5m (bored piles D2.0m for main piers and Extrados girder span piers)...

The minimum clearance at the main bridge span is 80m wide and 39.2m high (perpendicular), 105m wide and 39.2m high (diagonal) to ensure navigation and receive ships with a maximum tonnage of 5000 DWT entering and leaving Thuan An port according to the plan.

The bridge span leading to the fishing boat anchorage area in Hai Duong commune is 40m wide and 10m high.

The coastal road project through Hue city and the bridge over Thuan An estuary - phase 1 is 7.785km long, from Tam Giang bridge in Hai Duong commune to the bridge over Thuan An estuary, ending at the intersection of National Highway 49A - National Highway 49B in Thuan An ward, Hue city. The total investment of the project phase 1 is 2,400 billion VND.

The project is invested by the Hue City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board. The joint venture of Tan Nam Construction Joint Stock Company - Dat Phuong Group Joint Stock Company - Hoa Binh 479 Joint Stock Company will construct the project, with the expected completion time being 3 years.

According to the Hue City People's Committee, the coastal road and bridge project across Thuan An estuary is of special importance to the socio-economic development of the locality, ensuring national defense and security. This will be a strategic route and driving force for the development of the marine and lagoon economy in the coming time, contributing to changing the urban appearance of Hue City.

The completion of the bridge over Thuan An estuary will break the division at this estuary, creating an architectural work that is a highlight of the landscape for the area, promoting socio-economic development along the coast and lagoon. At the same time, the coastal road through Hue City and the bridge over Thuan An estuary will reduce the load on the North-South traffic axis, contributing to opening up many investment opportunities and developing coastal economic zones.

According to the investor and contractors, the Thuan An estuary bridge project is being constructed in the estuary area, in addition to the site, in 2024, the unfavorable weather lasted for a long time, and at many times the construction could not be carried out. Currently, the units are taking advantage of favorable weather to speed up the progress to close the bridge on the upcoming April 30th.

Inspecting the coastal road and bridge project through Thuan An recently, Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Committee Hoang Hai Minh requested the investor and contractors to commit to focusing on ensuring progress according to the timelines, not using the Lunar New Year holiday as an excuse to affect the project's progress.

At the same time, leaders of Thuan An ward and related units are focusing on the work of land acquisition for the remaining 600m. Land acquisition for the remaining 600m must be completed by February 20 at the latest, striving to complete the bridge construction through Thuan An gate by April 30 to ensure the technical traffic opening of the project by September 2.
