NDO - The conference with the theme “Towards a world- class administration”, was jointly organized by EROPA, the Asian Association of Public Administration (AAPA), the Asian Group on Public Administration (AGPA), and the Indonesian Association of Public Administration (IAPA). The conference demonstrated the spirit of close cooperation between organizations that act as a bridge, creating momentum for reform and innovation in public management in the Asia-Pacific region.
According to information from the National Academy of Public Administration, the EROPA - AAPA - IAPA - AGPA Conference in Yogyakarta, Indonesia took place from November 5 to 7, including 4 plenary sessions, 3 thematic seminars, 39 concurrent seminars with 273 speeches and in-depth studies.
Speaking at the opening of the Conference, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Ba Chien, Director of the National Academy of Public Administration (Vietnam), Chairman of the EROPA Executive Council, said that the EROPA 2024 Conference with the theme "Towards a world-class administration" was jointly organized by EROPA, AAPA, AGPA, and IAPA.
The conference is a testament to the spirit of close cooperation, the unity of will among organizations that act as a bridge to share and create knowledge, a driving force for reform and innovation in public management in the Asia-Pacific region for the development of administrative science , joining hands to build a high-quality administration in each country, for peace, stability, prosperity and sustainable development in the region and around the world.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Ba Chien affirmed that “Building a world-class administration” is not only an ideal goal but also a practical requirement, a method of action for a professional and modern civil service in each member country, contributing to improving the quality of life of the people and promoting sustainable socio -economic development.
With the intelligence and enthusiasm of members from Asia-Pacific countries, the Conference will exchange, discuss and jointly seek methods and possibilities to bring higher efficiency to the administrative system.
Within the framework of the Conference, delegates focused on discussing 8 basic issues: Digital transformation and the civil service ; Data-based public policy planning ; Creativity and innovation in administration and frontline administration ; Leadership in the VUCA period ; Post-pandemic public administration ; Social inclusion and equity ; Public values ; Risk and crisis management.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Ba Chien expressed his hope that delegates would have in-depth discussions, propose creative solutions and new connections during the Conference; and believed that the spirit of cooperation and unity of will are the solid foundation for practical joint actions of EROPA - AAPA - AGPA - IAPA to seek solutions to common problems of the region and of each country. This is especially meaningful in the context of globalization, multipolarization and peaceful development trends that have been particularly evident in the Asia-Pacific region, with many intertwined opportunities and challenges, where close cooperation and a world-class public administration and governance are the key to ensuring peace, stability, prosperity and sustainable development in the region.

Professor, Dr. Agus Pramusinto, President of AAPA and IAPA, emphasized the choice of the theme: "Towards a world-class administration" in the context of an increasingly complex world characterized by volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity (VUCA), demonstrating the urgency of researching public administration reform.
An effective and efficient public administration is essential for the development of nations, ensuring optimal use of resources, reducing waste and improving the efficiency of government in delivering public services. Through transparent and accountable systems, we can significantly reduce corruption, build public trust and strengthen the foundation of society. Administrative reform is crucial in upgrading the skills and capabilities of the public sector workforce, ensuring competitiveness and innovation in an increasingly changing world.
Prof. Dr. Eko Prasojo, President of AGPA, in his speech, said that public administration is the key to successful economic growth and development. Various digital tools such as artificial intelligence (AI), metaverse, and machine learning will help us to deliver increasingly better public policies and services. These opportunities bring benefits and become a lever for public administration. Public administration must carefully choose the right path at the various crossroads we are currently facing.
According to Prof. Dr. Wening Udasmoro, Vice-Chancellor of Gadiah Mada University, the conference is a good opportunity to unite leaders, scholars and public administration experts from the Asia-Pacific region.
