Digital transformation is the key driving force for the country to develop rapidly and sustainably.

On October 22, in Vinh Long province, the Central Propaganda and Education Commission coordinated with the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee and the Ministry of Science and Technology to organize a conference to disseminate information on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and digital transformation, promoting socio-economic development according to Resolution 57 of the Politburo.

In Vinh Long province, the implementation of Resolution 57 has achieved many important results. Scientific, technological, and innovation activities have made significant progress; mechanisms and policies on science and technology have been adjusted and supplemented to encourage social participation and attract investment from various economic sectors.

The province has managed and implemented 373 science and technology projects, including 17 national-level projects, 270 provincial-level projects, and 86 grassroots-level projects. The research results have led to the creation of 15 new varieties and the development of 299 models. Most of these results have been applied to production.

Vinh Long province has 11 geographical indications granted protection rights for its key products, and 1,124 organizations and individuals have been licensed to use intellectual property rights. The "Digital Literacy Movement" has been widely implemented, attracting over 95,844 participants and creating a clear transformation in raising awareness and digital skills among officials, Party members, and the people. In 2024, the province's Provincial Innovation Index (PII) reached 32.29 points, ranking 3rd out of 5 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta region and 21st out of 34 provinces and cities nationwide.

Speaking at the conference, Vinh Long Provincial Party Secretary Tran Van Lau assessed that, under the close guidance of the Central Steering Committee 57, the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee, the Provincial Party Committee, and the Provincial Steering Committee 57, the dissemination and promotion of Resolution 57 has been implemented promptly, extensively, and strongly spread to cadres, Party members, union members, association members, and the people through various media channels including newspapers, television, and social networks... As a result, more and more good models and innovative approaches have emerged in various fields to better serve the people and meet the requirements of the province's socio-economic development.

Journalist Le Nam Tu, Head of the Southern Regional Representative Office of Nhan Dan Newspaper, said that Nhan Dan Newspaper regularly publishes articles and series of articles on the results of the Government's Project 06 on developing applications of population data, electronic identification and authentication to serve national digital transformation.

Regarding the field of education, Dr. Nguyen Bach Khoa, Head of the Basic Sciences Faculty (Cuu Long University), stated that during the 2020-2025 period, despite being a private university not receiving funding for basic-level research, the university proactively invested 3-5 billion VND annually in science and technology activities. As a result, over the past five years, the university implemented 78 basic-level research projects, 214 faculty-level projects, and 149 student research projects. Simultaneously, it compiled 164 textbooks to support training.

Speaking at the conference, Comrade Huynh Thanh Dat, Member of the Central Committee of the Party and Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department, stated that Resolution 57 of the Politburo clearly identifies science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation as the main driving forces for the country's rapid and sustainable development; realizing the aspiration that by 2045, Vietnam will become a developed, high-income country.

The conference's outcomes will serve as an important basis for ministries, departments, and localities to develop specific, synchronized, and effective action plans for implementing Resolution 57 during the 2025-2030 period. This will create a new impetus and provide further impetus for breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation in the Mekong Delta region as well as nationwide.
