Provincial police are investigating complaints from residents about a fertilizer factory causing pollution.

Specifically, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police have launched an investigation into the factory's operations and production processes; they have collected samples of exhaust fumes and wastewater to aid in the investigation following complaints from residents about environmental pollution in the area.

Previously, on June 20, 2025, Comrade Nguyen Doan Anh, Secretary of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee, held a regular monthly meeting and dialogue with residents. During the meeting, representatives from residential area 15, Xuan Sinh commune, Tho Xuan district (now Sao Vang commune) presented their concerns regarding the environmental pollution caused by Nhat Long Fertilizer Joint Stock Company's production activities, which affected the lives and livelihoods of local residents, and requested the company's relocation from the residential area.

Following feedback from the public, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee leadership directed the Provincial Police to take the lead and coordinate with the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the People's Committee of Tho Xuan District (formerly), and other relevant units to urgently investigate and clarify the reported environmental pollution activities; and to strictly handle any violations (if any) in accordance with the law.

The People's Committee of Tho Xuan District (formerly) requested Nhat Long Thanh Hoa Fertilizer Joint Stock Company to address, rectify, and strictly comply with environmental protection regulations, ensuring no impact on the lives and activities of the people. At the same time, they were asked to study options for relocating the production facility of Nhat Long Thanh Hoa Fertilizer Joint Stock Company away from residential areas to a suitable location, in compliance with the law.

On July 4, 2025, Thanh Hoa Newspaper and Radio & Television published an article titled "Promptly verify the environmental pollution situation as reported by residents of Sao Vang commune," with the following content: Many households in Hamlet 15, Sao Vang commune, have reported that Nhat Long Thanh Hoa Fertilizer Joint Stock Company, operating in the area, is causing environmental pollution, affecting the health and lives of the local people.
