In mid-August, more than 13,000 engineers and workers divided into 3 shifts, 4 teams, deployed construction at hundreds of points to speed up progress, aiming at the basic goal of completing the Long Thanh airport project.

The project is expected to be put into operation by the end of 2025 and begin commercial exploitation from the first half of 2026.

The passenger terminal – the most important item – has completed the underground concrete structure and the body from the first to the fourth floors. The central area has reached 96% of the rough construction, the roof has been completed and waterproofed; the three wings of the terminal have reached over 93% of the rough construction, the entire steel frame and roof are completed.

At the passenger terminal, hundreds of workers are working hard to install fire protection systems, air conditioning, lighting, elevators, escalators, etc.

In parallel with the installation of technical systems, the units are completing the ceiling, floor, walls and installing glass doors. As of early August, the installation of the fire-fighting pipeline system has reached about 75%.

Workers are also installing the automated baggage handling system (BHS).

Machines and workers are constructing the telescopic bridge project, which includes 32 bridges and 40 nearby parking positions for Code C, E and F aircraft.

In front of the station, the parking lot has completed piling, and the structure and mechanical and electrical systems, water supply and drainage, and underground fire protection systems are being constructed in parallel. Currently, 160 out of 1,215 basement and ground floor foundations have been completed.

All packages are being implemented simultaneously. In package 4.6, the runway, taxiway and apron have been basically completed; the signal light system has been successfully tested since the end of April. The apron and taxiway areas of the terminal have completed more than half of the concrete surface layer, the drainage system and technical tunnel have completed more than 80% of the volume.

It was getting dark, but the bustling working atmosphere still covered the entire construction site of Long Thanh International Airport.

The sound of machinery engines echoed, thousands of engineers and skilled workers divided into many teams diligently implementing the projects.

At the runway 2 area, the joint venture contractor is working non-stop with heavy equipment, high-capacity concrete spreaders and a lot of manpower. Under the high-pressure lights, each layer of concrete is leveled and compacted, ensuring technical standards.

Night shifts at the construction site are hard, but for many workers, the pride of contributing to a national project makes all fatigue disappear. For many months now, Nguyen Van Hue and his teammates have been working tirelessly at the construction site, considering the overnight shifts as a daily routine.

Runway No. 2, 4,000 m long, 45 m wide, started construction at the end of May, and is currently implementing the foundation, drainage system and M150 cement concrete layer. To ensure the quality of the project, all input materials are carefully inspected before use.

The goal is to basically complete the foundation and BTXM150 work before December 19, 2025; then complete the BTXM350 road surface before March 2026, ensuring synchronization with the passenger terminal progress to put the entire project into operation in June 2026 as required.

In parallel, runway 1 was completed three months ahead of schedule and is ready for calibration flights.

According to ACV, the Long Thanh airport construction site is currently mobilizing nearly 13,000 experts, engineers, workers and about 3,000 pieces of machinery and equipment to carry out the items. For package 5.10 - construction of the passenger terminal, the joint venture contractor has arranged 4,428 personnel and more than 1,000 pieces of equipment to ensure progress.

Long Thanh International Airport is oriented to become the largest airport in Vietnam, with a designed capacity of 100 million passengers per year.
