(CLO) This was the request of the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Nguyen Ho Hai, at the conference summarizing 20 years of implementing Directive 16/2004 of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee on strengthening Party development and political training and education for reporters and editors in the city's press and publishing system, held on November 20.
Reporting at the conference, Comrade Tang Huu Phong, Deputy Head of the Propaganda Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, stated that in recent times, the city's press and publishing agencies have always considered political and ideological work as one of their key tasks, not only within their own units but also by effectively guiding ideology through their products. This is based on promoting the role of Party members, with reporters and editors as the core; and consistently focusing on training and fostering political theory. Cadres, Party members, reporters, and editors are conscious of studying to improve their professional and political theory knowledge.

Comrade Tang Huu Phong affirmed that the majority of reporters and editors have experience, solid professional skills, have received basic training and been tested through many years of work, successfully fulfilling their assigned tasks, and are committed to the development of the agency and unit.
This contributes to significantly strengthening and improving the political theory level of reporters and editors, ensuring that the activities of press and publishing agencies adhere to their principles and objectives, and that they correctly disseminate the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws and regulations.
In his remarks at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Ho Hai, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, assessed that, over the 20 years of implementing Directive 16, the awareness and actions of the entire political system of the city regarding Party development and political training and education for journalists and editors have undergone a strong transformation.
The city's press and publishing agencies are operating with increasing quality, effectively developing Party members in conjunction with planning, training, and fostering cadres; affirming the position and prestige of each unit, contributing to the overall development of the city.
Looking ahead, Mr. Nguyen Ho Hai suggested raising awareness and responsibility among Party committees, Party organizations, and press and publishing agencies, especially their leaders, regarding the role and importance of Party development and political training and education for reporters and editors.
For agencies and units, Standing Deputy Secretary Nguyen Ho Hai requested that they provide timely, complete, and accurate information to the press. This ensures that reporters and editors have access to sufficient information and can accurately reflect the situation.
