On May 16th, information from the Nam Dinh Provincial Police stated that the Drug Crime Investigation Department (Nam Dinh Provincial Police) coordinated with the Traffic Police Department to arrest Dinh Van Tien (35 years old, residing in Tam Diep City, Ninh Binh) and Nguyen Van Hai (35 years old, residing in Giao Thuy District, Nam Dinh) for investigation into the illegal possession of narcotics. Tien was a subject of a special wanted notice for the crime of "illegally possessing narcotics".

According to the case file, on December 23, 2022, Dinh Van Tien was driving a car illegally containing narcotics and ran a red light at the intersection of National Highway 10 and Phu Nghia Street (Loc Ha Ward, Nam Dinh City), causing an accident that injured two people and damaged four motorbikes. Dinh Van Tien abandoned the car at the scene and fled.
During the investigation and scene examination by the Nam Dinh City Police, 396 grams of various types of synthetic drugs (ecstasy and ketamine) were found in the car abandoned by Dinh Van Tien. The case file was transferred to the Drug Crime Investigation Department (Nam Dinh Provincial Police) for further investigation.

Subsequently, the Drug Crime Investigation Department issued a decision to initiate a criminal case, indict the suspect, and issue an arrest warrant for Dinh Van Tien for the crime of illegally possessing narcotics.
On April 21, authorities determined that Dinh Van Tien and his accomplices were in Nam Dinh, and this information was reported to the Director of the Nam Dinh Provincial Police Department.
At approximately 4:00 AM on the same day, the Drug Crime Investigation Department (Nam Dinh Provincial Police) coordinated with the Traffic Police Department to inspect and apprehend Dinh Van Tien and Nguyen Van Hai red-handed for illegally possessing 38 ecstasy pills, 2 packets of crystal methamphetamine, 3 lumps of ketamine, 1 packet of ketamine, and other related evidence.

Dinh Van Tien has four prior convictions for gambling, theft, robbery, and escaping from detention. Tien was a key supplier of synthetic drugs to the provinces of Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Thai Binh , and Hanoi.
The incident is currently under investigation by the authorities.
