In September 2023, the Department of External Information, Ministry of Information and Communications, completed the "Towards the National Flag" campaign with the strong influence of key opinion leaders (KOLs) on social media.
Following the launch of the "Towards the National Flag" campaign by the Vietnam Youth Union, the Department of External Information, and the Ministry of Information and Communications in collaboration with Schannel Network, commemorating the 79th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day, the campaign attracted a large number of young people and citizens to participate and respond, contributing to spreading the beautiful image of the Vietnamese flag and the spirit of patriotism with impressive numbers.
On TikTok, the campaign's main hashtags, including #NationalDay, #ILoveMyCountry, and #happyvietnam, spread rapidly. Over 60,000 videos and 10,000 use of video templates related to the national flag were shared, with 99% of the content being positive, resulting in approximately 800 million views between August 26th and September 9th.
On Facebook and Instagram, 200,000 people changed their profile picture frame to the flag image, and 21,000 people used related story templates (short-lived images displayed on personal pages), with beautiful and positive images continuously updated throughout the campaign.
Along with other platforms such as newspapers and local media, the campaign created a powerful positive impact.

Strengthening KOL (Key Opinion Leader) communication in promoting the national and local image.
With the advantage of easily reaching audiences and the ability to deliver engaging and diverse content from a youth perspective, key opinion leaders (KOLs) on social media are increasingly being considered as an effective channel for promoting the image of localities, the country, its people, culture, and history.
In May 2024, the Center for Press and International Cooperation (under the Department of External Information, Ministry of Information and Communications) collaborated with SChannel Advertising and Communication Services Joint Stock Company for the period 2024-2027, outlining the content that will appear simultaneously on the vietnam.vn website and the social media channels of KOLs managed by SChannel Network.
The center has also signed a similar MOU with Vitamin Vietnam Media and Entertainment Joint Stock Company, collaborating with several social media channels of KOLs such as Quang Linh Vlog, Mayssa (Lao Girl), Miss Sidewalk, Will, Check in Vietnam, Amazing Things in Vietnam, Rot's Blog; Hoang Nam; Quach Beem…

The Center for Press and International Cooperation (under the Department of External Information, Ministry of Information and Communications) is cooperating with SChannel Advertising and Communication Services Joint Stock Company for the period 2024-2027.
In 2023-2024, the agency collaborated with KOLs to spread the story of a happy Vietnam to the world through the promotion of the Happy Vietnam photo and video contest; and to spread awareness about the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory in Hanoi and Dien Bien, achieving hundreds of millions of views.
Localities also have extensive experience in leveraging and utilizing KOLs (Key Opinion Leaders) to promote their local image. Ha Giang organizes forums such as the "Digital Media Spreading the Image of Ha Giang" seminar, establishes "Ha Giang Media Team" groups, and honors individuals and organizations with outstanding contributions. Thanh Hoa has experience collaborating with KOLs to promote its image in Pu Luong and Ba Thuoc, contributing to the promotion of tourism.
To make this collaborative method more complete and effective, the Department of External Information believes that it is necessary to soon finalize the system of legal documents to strengthen the strict management of KOL activities on the internet. In addition, it suggests that localities proactively deploy KOLs in promoting their local image.
