Accelerating disbursement of an additional VND11,000 billion at the North-South expressway project

Regarding the implementation status of the North-South Eastern Expressway project in the 2021-2025 period (phase 2), the Department of Planning and Investment ( Ministry of Transport ) said that with the spirit of working in "3 shifts, 4 shifts", as of mid-July 2024, the cumulative volume of work completed at the project reached more than 42,700 billion VND, and payment work reached nearly 31,300 billion VND.

To ensure resources for project construction, the Department of Planning and Investment requests investors to continue to speed up the progress of acceptance, payment, and recovery of advances as soon as the volume is in accordance with regulations.

"In the North-South Expressway project phase 2, if payment procedures are completed, an additional VND11,000 billion can be disbursed from the project," the Department of Planning and Investment said.

Assessing that the disbursement volume of North-South expressway projects is relatively high but mainly focuses on works on the route (bridges, tunnels), in the upcoming rainy season, the specialized Department of the Ministry of Transport also requested investors to direct contractors to speed up the construction progress of the roadbed to ensure the overall progress of the project.

Previously, reporting on the progress of public investment disbursement in 2024, the Department of Planning and Investment said that, out of the total 62,600 billion VND of central budget capital assigned by the Prime Minister , as of July 15, 2024, the Ministry of Transport had disbursed about 27,500/62,600 billion VND, reaching 44% of the assigned plan.

Accounting for a relatively high disbursement rate in the year, at the time of reporting, the North-South Expressway project phase 2 had disbursed 16,765/30,507 billion VND, reaching 55% of the plan, meeting the required progress.

It is expected that in August 2024, the Prime Minister will allocate an additional VND 8,680 billion from the increased central budget revenue in 2023. This capital source is expected to be mainly supplemented for the North-South expressway project phase 2 (about VND 6,300 billion) to continue implementation.
