Dong Thap: Inauguration of the Southern Regional Party Committee and Oc Eo Culture Exhibition House

On October 10, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dong Thap province coordinated with relevant agencies to organize the inauguration ceremony of the Southern Regional Party Committee and Oc Eo Culture Exhibition House.

Attending the event were comrades: Le Quoc Phong, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee; Pham Thien Nghia, Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee.

The Southern Regional Party Committee and Oc Eo Culture Exhibition House project has an area of over 2,500m2 ^. , with 33 walls displaying artifacts and images about the history of the activities of the Southern Regional Party Committee and 18 walls displaying 6 Oc Eo Culture topics such as: introducing Oc Eo Culture and the Kingdom of Phu Nam in the South; a collection of artifacts about beliefs and religions; a collection of architectural artifacts; a collection of goldsmith artifacts; a collection of artifacts of production tools and a collection of artifacts of daily life tools.

This project was approved by the Prime Minister in principle for investment and the Provincial People's Committee approved the investment project, and assigned the Provincial Management Board of Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Projects as the investor.

According to the design space at the thematic exhibition room on the Southern Regional Party Committee, in an area of about ^1,200m2, the historical context, formation, development and leadership role of the Southern Regional Party Committee in the resistance war against French colonialism in Dong Thap Muoi from 1945 to 1949 will be recreated.

The Oc Eo Culture exhibition space covers an area of about ^650m2 , presented in the form of a collection, focusing on presenting original artifacts of the Oc Eo Culture in Go Thap nearly 2,000 years ago. In addition, it also introduces a collection of local archaeological artifacts, where there are many Oc Eo Cultural relics.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Vice Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee Huynh Minh Tuan acknowledged and highly appreciated the determination and efforts of the investor, consultants and contractors to complete the project on schedule.

With its cultural value, revolutionary tradition and the great stature of ancient civilization, this is one of the red addresses for visiting, researching and studying. The exhibition house contributes to helping the Go Thap National Special Relic Site become a place that gathers all products serving all audiences, from cultural tourism , nature tourism, archeology and history tourism to revolutionary struggle traditions.

Go Thap is one of the religious centers of Oc Eo Culture, because many Hindu temple relics were discovered here such as: Surya Sun God Temple, Vishnu God Temple and Shiva God Temple, which are important gods in Hinduism of Oc Eo Culture residents.
