On the morning of December 5, Dong Thap province held a press conference to inform about the 2nd Sa Dec Ornamental Flower Festival in 2025, with the theme "Colors of flowers of a new day".

Ms. Nguyen Thi Uyen Trang - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dong Thap province - said that the 2nd Sa Dec Ornamental Flower Festival with the theme of New Day Flowers carries the message that Sa Dec not only has tradition, but also has the desire for innovation and the ability to adapt to new development requirements.

"This is not only a cultural and tourism event, but also an important preparation step for Sa Dec to affirm its position as the capital of ornamental flowers in the West, in the context of green economy and agricultural tourism having many development opportunities.

The festival will take place from December 27, 2025 to January 4, 2026, and is expected to welcome about 500,000 visitors, demonstrating expectations and thereby opening up opportunities to enhance the value of the ornamental flower industry, creating a boost for the local tourism and service industry," said Ms. Trang.

The highlight is the re-enactment of the old Sa Dec space, the old Sa Dec market space and the old Sa Dec flower market; exhibition and performance of national intangible cultural heritage of Dong Thap province (Southern amateur music art; Dong Thap folk songs; boat and sampan building craft in Long Hau commune; mat weaving craft in Dinh An and Dinh Yen communes; robe weaving craft in Long Khanh commune; Lai Vung nem making craft; Sa Dec rice flour making craft...).

With the live show Hundred Years of Fragrance and Color, the flower village is invested in a large and elaborate scale, to honor the hundred-year journey of formation and development of Sa Dec ornamental flower village from a small riverside craft village to become the ornamental flower capital of the West.

Mr. Le Ha Luan - Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Dong Thap province - said that the total area of ​​​​ornamental flowers in the province is about 1,400 hectares, flowers are grown in Sa Dec, Lap Vo, Lai Vung, Tan Duong. Sa Dec alone is about 1,000 hectares, some areas of Tet flowers are grown in My Phong ward.

"Regarding the story of production and consumption, currently flowers are still grown in the traditional way, mainly consumed through traditional channels, sold to traders. In the coming time, we have a direction for businesses to expand consumption on e-commerce platforms, through sales channels so that customers can proactively find them," said Mr. Luan.

The 2nd Sa Dec Ornamental Flower Festival at the provincial level includes 20 main activities and 12 supporting activities. The opening ceremony will take place at 8pm on December 27 at Sa Dec Square stage.
