In Dak Lak, farmers are entering the peak coffee harvest season for the 2015-2026 crop year. In recent years, consistently high coffee prices have motivated growers to invest in production and improve their economic livelihoods.
Dak Lak currently has over 200,000 hectares of coffee plantations, producing over 530,000 tons annually. Coffee plays a crucial role in the local economy, making a significant contribution to the gross domestic product and export revenue.
Ms. H Djuêh Bya, from Ko Tam hamlet, Tan An ward, said her family cultivates 1 hectare of coffee, harvesting about 3 tons this year. With the current stable coffee prices, growers can earn hundreds of millions of dong per hectare. Not only coffee, but many other agricultural products such as pepper and durian also maintain good prices, helping to improve the lives of people in the region.
The global coffee market is experiencing mixed trends.
On the international market, coffee prices today showed a clear divergence between the two major exchanges. At the close of the most recent trading session in London, Robusta coffee futures for January 2026 fell by $15/ton to $4,206/ton. The March 2026 contract saw an even sharper decline, losing $31/ton and falling to $4,107/ton.
Conversely, the New York exchange saw an upward trend for Arabica coffee. The December 2025 contract rose 4.65 cents/lb to 405.45 cents/lb. The March 2026 contract also increased 3.9 cents/lb to 376.2 cents/lb.
World coffee prices are moving in two different directions, with Robusta facing supply pressure from Vietnam, while Arabica is being supported by strong fluctuations in the currency market.
Early morning on December 12th, Vietnam time, the US Dollar Index fell 0.43%, to 98.36 points. The US dollar depreciated sharply against the euro, Swiss franc, and British pound after the Fed signaled a more dovish monetary policy than previously anticipated.
According to expert Nguyen Quang Binh, the weakening US dollar is a key factor helping the New York market maintain its upward momentum. In addition, the sharp decline in Brazil's coffee exports in November 2025 also contributed to supporting Arabica prices.
