Professor Tran Hong Thai (born in 1974, from Kim Song Truong commune, Can Loc, Ha Tinh ), graduated from university in Russia, defended his doctoral thesis at Heidelberg University (Germany).

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has just signed Decision No. 1179/QD-TTg dated October 12, 2023 to transfer and appoint Mr. Tran Hong Thai - General Director of the General Department of Hydrometeorology, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to hold the position of Deputy Minister of Science and Technology .

Mr. Tran Hong Thai was born in 1974, from Kim Song commune, Truong Can Loc, Ha Tinh; graduated from university in Russia, defended his doctoral thesis in Earth Sciences and Mathematics at Heidelberg University (Germany).

Before being appointed as Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, he was a researcher at the Institute of Hydrometeorology, then became the head of this institute. Mr. Tran Hong Thai was then transferred to be the head of the General Department of Hydrometeorology.
