Efforts to break through to compensate for progress on the entire route
With the strong direction of the Government , ministries and branches, and the tireless efforts of local authorities, investors and contractors, the project is entering the peak construction phase.
The construction atmosphere along the entire route, especially at component projects 2, 3 and 4, is taking place very vigorously. After facing many difficulties in the first phase due to the scarcity of materials and unfavorable weather, the contractors have now mobilized maximum human resources, equipment and materials to work day and night to make up for the previously delayed progress.
At the XL-14 package (belonging to Component 2 of the project) with a length of 9 km, Mr. Doan Xuan Khu, Commander of the 68 Commercial Construction Joint Stock Company, said that the biggest problem regarding the supply of leveling materials has been basically resolved. The joint venture contractor is focusing all its efforts, organizing many construction teams to transport sand from mines in An Giang province, Dong Thap province and stone from licensed mines to the construction site.
The contractor has arranged more than ten construction teams using a rolling method to optimize efficiency. The goal is to complete the entire roadbed loading section before December 31, 2025. Mr. Doan Xuan Khu shared: "Although it is the rainy season, because the main items are bridge construction and sand treatment, the progress is not much affected. Workers still organize construction day and night, only stopping when the rain is too heavy. With our joint efforts, we are committed to completing the project on schedule as assigned by the Government and Can Tho city leaders."

Similarly, at component project 4, the section passing through Soc Trang province with a length of over 58 km, contractors are also vigorously implementing many construction phases. The total value of the 4 construction packages here has reached 41.99% of the contract value. Mr. Nguyen Trung Hieu, Deputy Project Commander of My Da Construction Limited Company, said that the package his consortium is in charge of has a length of 15 km with 15 bridges and has reached 40% of the contract value. Previously, there was a problem with the site clearance regarding the relocation of the power grid on the route, but the local authorities resolved it more than two weeks ago, making construction easier.
Mr. Nguyen Trung Hieu also said that the project is currently focusing on the roadbed loading category. After completing phase one, the project will have time to wait for settlement according to technical regulations before implementing phase two. The entire contractor consortium is making every effort to complete the loading part before December 30, 2025.
Solving the "problem" of filling materials
According to Mr. Phan Minh Tri, Deputy Director of the Management Board of Investment and Construction of Agricultural Traffic Works of Can Tho City, the entire component project 2, 3 and 4 has a total of 11 packages; of which, 10 are construction and installation packages and 1 is traffic safety system construction and installation package. Currently, the entire project has achieved a completion rate of 45.09% of the contract value. The bridge items on the route are meeting the set progress.
Mr. Phan Minh Tri informed that regarding sand leveling, the total demand for all 3 component projects is about 20.101 million m³. Up to now, the authorities have identified the supply of about 15 million m³ and have exploited and transported to the project about 7.444 million m³. The remaining sand shortage of about 5.101 million m³ is being continued by the City People's Committee with localities such as An Giang province, Dong Thap province and Vinh Long province to complete the exploitation procedures.
Regarding stone materials, the total demand is about 3.143 million m³; of which, the source has been identified as 1.838 million m³ from mines in An Giang province, Dong Nai province and Ho Chi Minh city. The remaining amount of stone, about 1.004 million m³, is being registered by investors and contractors for stone exploitation in Dong Nai province and Ho Chi Minh city, basically meeting the project's demand.

Mr. Phan Minh Tri also said that the current challenge is to ensure the material supply capacity to meet the demand for simultaneous construction along the entire route. The Project Management Board has been proactively working directly with neighboring localities with abundant sand resources to support and introduce new mines to increase mining capacity and ensure stable supply.
In the coming time, the Project Management Board will continue to strictly implement the general directive spirit, requiring all contractors to mobilize maximum resources, work overtime, increase shifts, and deploy more construction phases. With the synchronous participation and high determination, component projects 2, 3 and 4 of the Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang expressway ensure progress according to the set requirements.
Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee Truong Canh Tuyen said that recently, the city has sent working delegations to work with localities with material sources to coordinate support to speed up the project's progress; at the same time, requested contractors to coordinate, share and support in construction, urgently increase sand mining capacity, bring materials to the construction site as quickly as possible, mobilize maximum human resources and machinery to ensure progress according to the set plan.
The leader of Can Tho City People's Committee also said that for contractors, the city directed the investor to regularly monitor, if the contractor does not complete the progress, the contract will be terminated. The investor needs to promote the inspection of the entire construction progress, have a weekly assessment plan to send to the leader of the City People's Committee to promptly have solutions to speed up the project progress.
