According to the Vietnam Railway Authority, due to the complex landslide situation at Chi Thanh tunnel ( Phu Yen province ), the time required to resolve the issue may be prolonged. The Phu Khanh Railway Branch has sent a directive to relevant units to organize the transfer of passengers by car between La Hai and Tuy Hoa stations.

Accordingly, passengers traveling on passenger trains from Hanoi and Da Nang stations heading south on May 20th and 21st will be transferred by bus from La Hai station to Tuy Hoa station.

Conversely, passengers traveling on trains departing from Saigon station on May 21st heading north will be transferred by bus from Tuy Hoa station to La Hai station.

It is expected that from the afternoon of May 21st to the morning of May 22nd, the railway sector will transport approximately 2,700 passengers (from 12 trains) from La Hai station to Tuy Hoa station and vice versa, to continue their journeys to the South and North.

At Song Than station, no freight trains operated by Saigon and Hanoi Railway Transport Joint Stock Companies will be running on the night of May 21st.

The Vietnam Railway Authority has directed the Safety Inspection Department III to coordinate access to the scene to gather information, assess the situation, and mitigate the consequences of the incident.

As of 1:30 PM on the same day, landslides were still occurring at the aforementioned location (the affected area measured 16 meters in length, 40 meters in width, and 4.9 meters in height) and showed no signs of stopping. Fortunately, there were no casualties or property damage.

Immediately after the incident occurred, Vietnam Railways Corporation directed railway units in the area to coordinate with relevant agencies and local authorities to mitigate the consequences. Currently, remediation work is underway.

According to the Vietnam Railway Authority, the cause of the incident was construction in an area with weak and complex soil conditions. The remediation efforts are currently facing many difficulties.
