Different from the traditional method of mainly collecting silk, women members in Vu Tien now focus on raising silkworms to sell pupae and cocoons. The products are mainly consumed in Hanoi and some other markets, meeting the diverse processing needs of consumers.
To improve efficiency, households have boldly invested in building modern breeding chambers, installing air conditioning systems and environmental control equipment, and mulberry cutting machines. Raising silkworms in cold rooms helps minimize the effects of weather, improve productivity, cocoon quality, and ensure stable output year-round.
Women's Union members in Vu Tien are currently focusing on raising silkworms to sell pupae and cocoons.
On average, each batch of silkworms yields 80-100kg of cocoons, and some households that follow the technical process well achieve even higher yields. Income from silkworm farming is far superior to that from rice farming and many other crops, bringing in hundreds of millions of dong each year, contributing to improving living standards, promoting agricultural economic development and building advanced new rural areas.
During the implementation process, many outstanding female members have emerged, boldly applying science and technology, bringing about clear economic efficiency. A typical example is Ms. Tran Thi Thu with a concentrated silkworm breeding model in an air-conditioned room, providing breeds for 15-20 members each month. After deducting expenses, she has a stable income of 15-17 million VND/month. Ms. Bach Thi Lua with a silkworm breeding model in an air-conditioned room, sells 230-250kg of cocoons each month, with an income after expenses of 15-20 million VND/month.

These typical models have affirmed the right direction, creating a ripple effect in the community, encouraging female members in the area to actively participate in developing the silkworm farming profession, contributing to increasing income and stabilizing life.
The model of growing mulberry and raising silkworms in Vu Tien commune is a clear demonstration of the dynamism and creativity of women's union members in developing the agricultural economy. The application of modern science and technology in production has brought high efficiency, opening up a direction for sustainable development, in line with the policy of developing the local agricultural economy. This is also the motivation for women's union members to boldly start a business, develop the family economy, and strive to become rich legitimately.
In the coming time, the Women's Union of Vu Tien commune will continue to coordinate with local authorities and relevant agencies to replicate the model, support members in accessing science and technology, preferential loans and consumption markets. Thereby, the silkworm farming profession will not only become a sustainable direction, but also a fulcrum to help women affirm their position in the socio-economic development of the locality.
