The judging panel for the 2024-2025 National High School Excellent Student Competition has selected 3,803 award-winning candidates, accounting for 58.68% of the total number of participants.
On January 18th, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) announced the results of the national high school student excellence competition for the 2024-2025 academic year.
The national high school student excellence competition for the 2024-2025 academic year will be held on December 25th and 26th, 2024. A total of 6,482 candidates nationwide will participate, an increase of 663 candidates compared to the 2023-2024 academic year.
Candidates took the exam at 68 examination centers with 13 subjects: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Informatics, Literature, History, Geography, English, Russian, French, Chinese, and Japanese. This year, for the first time, Japanese was included in the exam.
According to the current regulations for the national-level gifted student selection exam, the total number of awards from the Encouragement level upwards shall not exceed 60% of the number of participating candidates; the total number of First, Second, and Third prizes shall not exceed 60% of the total number of awards; and the number of First prizes shall not exceed 5% of the total number of awards.
The Ministry of Education and Training assessed that the exam grading process was organized in accordance with regulations, ensuring safety, seriousness, accuracy, objectivity, and fairness.
As a result, the judging panel selected 3,803 winning candidates, accounting for 58.68% of the total number of candidates. In the 2023-2024 academic year, the number of candidates was 5,812, with 3,351 winning candidates.
The Ministry of Education and Training stated that, according to the examination regulations, within 15 days of the announcement of the results, candidates have the right to request a review of their exam papers. The Quality Management Department (Ministry of Education and Training) issues certificates to winning students, and the remaining students are also acknowledged with certificates of participation in the examination.
The national-level high school student excellence competition is held annually to encourage teachers and students to develop their creative abilities, excel in teaching, and excel in learning.
According to the plan, in March 2025, the Ministry of Education and Training will organize the selection exam for high school students to join the national teams participating in regional and international Olympiads in 2025, for the subjects of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Informatics.
Notably, this year's National High School Excellent Student Selection Examination is the first year the Ministry of Education and Training has applied the method of transporting exam papers through the Government Cipher Committee's system nationwide.
The smooth transportation of exam papers and the organization of the exams are important prerequisites for the implementation of the method of transporting exam papers through the Government Cipher Committee's system for the High School Graduation Exam from 2025 and the National High School Student Selection Exam in subsequent years.
