International visitors 'explode' to Phu Quoc to celebrate Tet

Phu Quoc International Airport is sometimes overloaded.

On January 31st, Phu Quoc International Airport announced that from the 1st to the 7th day of the first lunar month of the Year of the Snake 2025 (January 29th to February 4th), Phu Quoc is expected to receive an average of over 100 flights per day, bringing international and domestic tourists to the island for the Lunar New Year holiday. This number does not include high-speed ferry and boat services from the mainland to the island.

Therefore, Phu Quoc International Airport is sometimes crowded with passengers, sometimes overloaded, and passengers have to wait a long time to complete immigration procedures.

"I was very impressed with Tet in Vietnam, especially in Phu Quoc. The fireworks display on the island was beautiful. Everything was amazing. This was the best New Year's celebration of my life." Kira, a Russian tourist, said.

In recent days, a large number of domestic and international tourists , especially from China, Taiwan, South Korea, and some European countries, have flocked to entertainment spots such as Sunset Town (An Thoi Ward); Grand World Phu Quoc and Phu Quoc Night Market (Duong Dong Ward)... to visit, take photos, watch art performances, and enjoy the specialties of Phu Quoc island.

The Phu Quoc 4-island tour is booming due to high tourist demand.

According to Mr. Nguyen Minh Tam, director of Tam Dang Khoa boat company in An Thoi ward, since the 29th day of the Lunar New Year, the tour to visit the four islands of May Rut Trong, May Rut Ngoai, Gam Ghi, etc., has been chosen by many international tourists to experience various activities and games on the sea, such as parasailing, snorkeling to admire coral reefs, and feeding fish at the bottom of the sea.

"This year, we're keeping tour prices stable. Every day, we receive about 30 international tour groups booking island tours, sometimes even more, but we can't keep up with the demand. Other attractions are also crowded with tourists at night. I see Phu Quoc tourism booming and attracting a large number of international visitors this Lunar New Year of the Snake in 2025," Mr. Tam said excitedly.

According to the Kien Giang Department of Tourism, from the 29th day of the 12th lunar month to the 2nd day of the 1st lunar month of the Year of the Snake 2025, Kien Giang expects to welcome more than 131,000 visitors.

Of these, Phu Quoc city is estimated to welcome approximately 93,400 visitors; including about 27,694 international tourists, with total estimated revenue exceeding 700 billion VND.

Mr. Bui Quoc Thai, Director of the Kien Giang Department of Tourism, said that the department has sent a document to districts and cities to strengthen supervision of compliance with legal regulations on ensuring service quality, price listing, and food safety and hygiene.

Furthermore, tourist attractions must prevent instances of touting, overcharging, and price gouging that negatively impact the image of Phu Quoc tourism.
