The thunderstorms and tornadoes on the night of May 2nd and the morning of May 3rd affected agricultural production in Yen Dinh district. It is estimated that about 8 to 10% of the total planted area was affected, impacting yield and production, mainly rice and corn crops that were nearing harvest, which were flattened, broken, or flooded .

Comrade Nguyen Xuan Tung, Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee, along with the working group and leaders of Dinh Tien commune, inspected the situation and encouraged the people to overcome the impact on the rice crop.
On the morning of May 4th, the leaders of Yen Dinh district and two working groups from the district directly inspected the situation, assessed the damage, and directed the remediation efforts caused by thunderstorms and tornadoes in the Dinh and Yen areas.

The district inspection team went directly to the fields, directing units to urgently implement solutions to help people overcome the effects of thunderstorms and tornadoes.
Following on-site inspections in many communes and towns in the district, especially in key rice and crop growing areas such as Dinh Hoa, Dinh Tien, Dinh Tan, Dinh Hung, Dinh Tang, Dinh Lien, and Yen Thinh communes, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Tung, Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee, directed relevant units to urgently implement solutions to mitigate the damage to rice and crop areas. For rice plants that have been flattened, damaged, broken, or flooded, he instructed them to encourage and motivate people to quickly go to the fields to bundle the rice into clumps, drain the water from the surface of the fields to prevent the ears from being submerged, and harvest quickly any rice that is 80% or more ripe. For corn crops nearing harvest, he directed them to conduct thorough inspections, urgently harvest the affected areas due to flattening or breakage, and contact livestock farms to purchase the produce from farmers. For other vegetable crops, he instructed them to drain the water if flooded and actively care for the plants to help them recover. Regarding irrigation, the district has directed Nam Song Ma One-Member Limited Liability Company and the Agricultural Service Cooperative to drain water from canals, especially in flooded areas recovering after production; and the drainage pumping stations are urgently draining water into the Cau Chay River and Ma River to prevent crops from being waterlogged...

Farmers in key rice-growing areas of Dinh Hoa, Dinh Tien, Dinh Tan, Dinh Hung communes and other affected communes are urgently bundling rice plants into clumps and draining floodwaters.
On the morning of May 4th, the affected communes and towns mobilized local manpower and encouraged residents to quickly and effectively overcome the consequences of the thunderstorms and tornadoes to minimize losses in yield and production, restore production, care for crops, and stabilize their lives.
It is known that on May 3rd, the District People's Committee issued Official Dispatch No. 04/CĐ-UBND on focusing on overcoming the consequences of thunderstorms and heavy rain. Accordingly, the members of the District Party Committee's Standing Committee and committee members directly went to the grassroots level to direct communes and towns to overcome the damage and quickly report any difficulties so that the district could provide close and timely guidance; they also intensified field inspections and guided farmers on solutions for preventing, combating, and caring for crops after heavy rain and thunderstorms... thus significantly reducing damage and risks to spring crops.
