On July 28, EssilorLuxottica - the world's leading eyewear manufacturer - said that sales of Ray-Ban Meta glasses integrated with artificial intelligence (AI) have tripled, contributing to boosting the group's profits.

In the first half of this year, the group's revenue increased 5.5% to 14 billion euros (about 16.2 billion USD), while net profit increased slightly by 1.6% to 1.4 billion euros. EssilorLuxottica CEO Francesco Milleri said the group was growing well despite a volatile business environment.

However, like many other European businesses, the weak USD has somewhat affected EssilorLuxottica's business results in the North American region, when it almost did not grow in the second quarter.

EssilorLuxottica said its line of AI-integrated smart glasses has created great attraction in recent times.

The smart glasses have a built-in camera, earpiece, and microphone, allowing the wearer to activate Meta’s AI assistant with just the command “Hey Meta” without having to open their phone. In June, the company also announced a new line of Oakley glasses with integrated AI.

EssilorLuxottica is currently the world's leading manufacturer of corrective lenses and frames, holding the rights to produce glasses for many famous luxury brands such as Giorgio Armani, Burberry, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Prada and Versace./.
