To concretize "patriotic spirit" into "patriotic work," on June 11, 1948, President Ho Chi Minh issued the "Call for Patriotic Emulation" with the goal of "eradicating hunger, illiteracy, and foreign invasion." Responding to President Ho Chi Minh's call, along with the rest of the country, cadres, Party members, and the people of Thanh Hoa province upheld the spirit of unity and solidarity, making immense contributions in terms of manpower and resources to the cause of national liberation, construction, and development.

The leaders of Thanh Hoa City presented certificates of commendation to individuals who have achieved outstanding results in studying and following the ideology, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh.
With its concise, succinct, easy-to-understand yet profound and comprehensive writing style, President Ho Chi Minh's "Call for Patriotic Emulation" is a rallying cry, inspiring and motivating the entire Party, people, and army to uphold the tradition of patriotism, self-reliance, and self-strength, ready to overcome all sacrifices and hardships, and successfully fulfill their tasks in each stage of the revolution. He affirmed: "Emulation is patriotism, and patriotism requires emulation; those who emulate are the most patriotic," and "Together we promote patriotic emulation, we can overcome any difficulty and successfully complete any task."
Responding to President Ho Chi Minh's "Call for Patriotic Emulation," Thanh Hoa enthusiastically took the lead in emulation movements and achieved many outstanding results. During the resistance war against the French colonial invasion, despite facing many difficulties, Thanh Hoa's rear area still supplied millions of tons of food and provisions to the front lines. 57,000 young people enlisted in the army, and more than 1 million civilian laborers were mobilized, working day and night to transport food, supplies, and weapons to serve the battlefield, contributing to the historic victory of Dien Bien Phu, "renowned throughout the world and shaking the earth."
During the war against the US for national liberation, Thanh Hoa was one of the localities that directly confronted the enemy's destructive warfare. Following the call of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh, the army and people of Thanh Hoa bravely fought 10,158 battles, shot down 367 aircraft, captured 36 enemy pilots, and destroyed 57 warships. In those historic years, places like Ham Rong, Do Len, Lach Truong, Pha Ghep; the selfless fighting examples of the militia of Nam Ngan, Yen Vuc, the veteran militia of Hoang Truong, the female militia of Hoa Loc, Thanh Thuy, Ha Phu... And countless other outstanding sons and daughters of Thanh Hoa bravely fought, becoming beautiful symbols of revolutionary heroism in the Ho Chi Minh era. With its immense contributions to the resistance wars against France and the United States, Thanh Hoa has been honored by the Party and State with many prestigious awards: Hero of the People's Armed Forces, Gold Star Order, Ho Chi Minh Order, etc.
Entering the period of national renewal, especially in recent years, Thanh Hoa has continued to unite and effectively implement the four major emulation movements launched by the Prime Minister: "The whole country joins hands for the poor, leaving no one behind," "Vietnamese enterprises integrate and develop," "Cadres, civil servants, and public employees compete to implement workplace culture," and "The whole country joins forces to build new rural areas." Not stopping there, with a spirit of self-reliance, self-improvement, proactiveness, and creativity, Thanh Hoa has launched and implemented many emulation movements in all fields, linked to studying and following the thoughts, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh. Typical examples include, in the economic field, movements such as: "Excellent production and business," "Excellent and creative labor," and "One commune, one product." In the socio-cultural field, there are movements such as: "All people unite to build a cultured life," "Building communes and wards that meet the standards of new rural culture," and "Building civilized urban areas." In the health sector, there are movements such as: "Doctors are like mothers," "Implementing the 12 principles of medical ethics," and "Applying advanced medical achievements to the care and protection of people's health." In the education and training sector, there are movements such as "Two Goods" and "Innovation and creativity in teaching and learning." In the defense and security sector, there are movements such as: "Emulation for decisive victory," and "Promoting traditions, contributing talents, worthy of the name of Uncle Ho's soldiers"... From these patriotic emulation movements, many exemplary collectives and individuals have emerged, who dare to think, dare to act, dare to take responsibility; who are pioneers and leaders in carrying out tasks in their localities, agencies, and units. Along with emulation campaigns, localities, agencies, and units have also promptly rewarded outstanding collectives and individuals, creating momentum to further promote the flourishing patriotic emulation movement.
Seventy-six years have passed since President Ho Chi Minh issued his "Call for Patriotic Emulation," and for that same amount of time, this call has deeply permeated and spread throughout life, multiplying countless good deeds and exemplary achievements, resulting in great fruits and accomplishments. Thanh Hoa has every right to be proud of becoming a shining example nationwide in socio-economic development, with many indicators ranking among the top performers. A clear testament to this is that in 2023, Thanh Hoa's Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) growth rate reached 7.01%, ranking third among provinces and cities with the largest GRDP nationwide; state budget revenue reached 40,310 billion VND, ranking eighth among provinces and cities with the highest total budget revenue nationwide. All economic sectors are thriving, with many important economic indicators showing significant increases compared to the same period.
With strong determination, high responsibility, and many synchronized solutions, in the first quarter of 2024, the province's economy experienced high and fairly consistent growth across all sectors. Specifically, the GRDP growth rate reached 13.15%, ranking third nationwide and the highest first-quarter growth rate since 2020. Industrial production value increased by 25.99%, further affirming its role as a driving force of the economy. Import and export activities increased sharply, with export value estimated at over US$1.376 billion, the highest increase in the four years of the 2021-2025 plan. Outstanding achievements were recorded in advanced education and high-performance sports; social security was ensured, and the people's living standards continued to improve.
Born 76 years ago, President Ho Chi Minh's "Call for Patriotic Emulation" still retains its profound historical significance, theoretical value, and practical relevance. Reaching this 76th anniversary is an extremely meaningful moment for the Party Committee, government, and people of Thanh Hoa to cherish the achievements made, while simultaneously fostering faith and love to realize the aspiration of building Thanh Hoa into a prosperous, beautiful, and civilized province – a "model" province – in order to reciprocate the trust and deep affection that President Ho Chi Minh bestowed upon this land with its exceptionally special position in the nation's history.
