Yesterday, December 6th, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a ceremony to select the 10 outstanding cultural, sports and tourism events of 2024, with the participation of central and local press agencies.
The online voting process will continue at the following addresses: Vietnam Culture Newspaper (online): www.baovanhoa.vn; To Quoc Newspaper (online): www.toquoc.vn; and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's portal: www.bvhttdl.gov.vn. Online voting will last until 5 PM on December 9th.
Previously, on November 15th, Tra Que Vegetable Village had the honor of being the only representative from Vietnam to win the "Best Tourist Village" award. UN Tourism will present this title to Tra Que Vegetable Village during the International Conference on Rural Tourism taking place in Quang Nam on December 10th.
Last year, Hoi An's entry into UNESCO's global network of creative cities in the field of folk arts and crafts was also among the top 10 outstanding cultural, sports, and tourism events of 2023.
Here is a list of 15 nominated events for voting to select 10:
1. The National Assembly approved the investment plan for the National Target Program on Cultural Development for the period 2025-2035.
2. The National Assembly passed the Law on Cultural Heritage (amended), completing the legal framework for the field of cultural heritage.
3. The government has issued two major plans for culture, sports, and tourism, unlocking resources and creating a stronger foundation for breakthroughs and development in the sector.
4. A series of cultural, sports, and tourism events commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory.
5. Vietnam has added two more heritage sites to the UNESCO list of the Asia-Pacific Regional Documentary Heritage and the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
6. The cultural industry is experiencing breakthroughs with programs of significant scale, appeal, and social impact.
7. The newly opened Vietnam Military History Museum has attracted a large number of domestic and international visitors, affirming the stature and scale of a modern cultural institution and a highlight in the series of activities commemorating the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army.
8. The Prime Minister attended the Vietnam Tourism Promotion and Cultural Cooperation Forum abroad.
9. The first-ever promotion of Vietnamese tourism and cinema in the United States.
10. Vietnam's tourism industry has recovered strongly after the pandemic, welcoming approximately 17 million international tourists and 120 million domestic tourists.
11. Tra Que Vegetable Village, Hoi An City, Quang Nam Province, has been recognized as the Best Tourist Village of 2024 by the United Nations Tourism Organization (UN Tourism).
12. Official operation of the Ban Gioc Waterfall (Vietnam) - Duc Thien (China) Scenic Area.
13. The Vietnamese women's volleyball team won their first world championship medal and their second Asian championship title.
14. Weightlifter Le Van Cong wins bronze medal at the Paris Paralympic Games 2024.
15. The Vietnamese women's futsal team won the Southeast Asian championship.
