On February 2nd, the People's Committee of Quang Ngai City held a ceremony to announce the list of national intangible cultural heritage of the traditional festival "Tinh Long Commune Boat Racing Festival, Quang Ngai City".

Leaders of Quang Ngai City receive the Certificate recognizing the Tinh Long Commune Boat Racing Festival as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Previously, the traditional boat racing festival of Tịnh Long commune was announced by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a national intangible cultural heritage for Quảng Ngãi province.

The traditional boat racing festival in Tịnh Long commune originated long ago, associated with the process of land reclamation and village settlement by the Vietnamese people from the late 16th century.

The Tinh Long Commune Boat Racing Festival, held every two years at the beginning of spring, attracts a large number of participants, creating a vibrant festive atmosphere during the Lunar New Year for the people of Tinh Long Commune in particular and Quang Ngai in general.

A unique cultural feature, closely intertwined with the lives of the inhabitants living in the lower reaches of the Tra Khuc River, is a traditional cultural and religious activity of the agricultural community, praying for favorable weather, bountiful harvests, and peace and prosperity for the people; at the same time, it connects the spirit of solidarity and love among the people, inspires the spirit of physical exercise and sports, promotes health, and encourages the building of a prosperous and beautiful homeland.

The boat teams of Tinh Long commune competed during the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake on the morning of the 5th day of Tet.

According to Quang Ngai City, in the coming time, the locality will continue to work together to effectively preserve and promote the heritage value of the "Tinh Long Commune Boat Racing Festival" to better serve socio -economic development.

Reviving heritage sites, enriching the treasure trove of cultural heritage , and establishing a tourism brand to attract visitors to see and enjoy them will contribute to the development of tourism in the city and Quang Ngai province.
