Class in Bac Ninh has two top students in block C nationwide

Luong Tai High School No. 2 ( Bac Ninh ) has two students in class 12D1 who are national valedictorians in block C00 (literature, history, geography). They are Phung Thi Ngoc Mai and Khuc Nguyen Thuy Linh, both of whom achieved a score of 29.75. Specifically, the two students achieved a score of 10 in history, a score of 10 in geography, and a score of 9.75 in literature.

Notably, Phung Thi Ngoc Mai (2006) and Khuc Nguyen Thuy Linh (2006) are not only classmates but also on the same history team.

"I was overwhelmed with emotion because I didn't think I would achieve such a high result. I couldn't sleep after the exam because I was worried and nervous," Khuc Nguyen Thuy Linh said.

Linh mentally calculated that 29.75 was an almost perfect score, but she was not sure she would be valedictorian. It was not until the school announced that she truly believed she had passed the top exam in the country for block C00. "My family kept asking me if I was sure. Because I did not believe I had achieved such a high score," Linh shared.

Unlike Thuy Linh, Ngoc Mai did not feel too surprised: "The above score was within my prediction. However, I am also very happy to be one of the 19 top students in block C nationwide."

Considered as a pair of friends who progress together, Thuy Linh and Ngoc Mai always learn and share knowledge with each other. The two female students always enthusiastically debate in every team class.

Commenting on her students, history teacher Nguyen Thi Huong said: "Linh and Mai are both very good and determined. In the provincial excellent student exam, both of them achieved good results. Ngoc Mai won second prize and Thuy Linh won third prize.

During the last months of preparing for the high school graduation exam, all students are highly focused. I hope they will be admitted to the school of their choice."

Sharing with Dan Tri reporter about her study method, Thuy Linh said she "plowed" through the questions to improve herself and make the fewest mistakes. In addition, Linh researched and understood herself by choosing the study time frame that she felt most comfortable with, instead of staying up late and forcing herself to study a lot.

For literature, Linh said "no" to cramming. "At first, I only dared to set a target of 9 points. Then, my literature teacher encouraged and motivated me to raise it to 9.5 points. Finally, I finished with a near-perfect score," Linh revealed.

This female student said her practice test score was only at an okay level of 25-27 points. In the last practice test, Linh got 28.25 points.

"People often mistakenly think that block C will focus on memorization, but I don't think so. For history and geography, I will focus on doing tests and practicing thinking skills, reflexes and analyzing the questions.

I am most afraid of literature because my starting point is block A. But because I love history, I decided to switch to block C. However, I feel lucky to study in an environment where teachers and friends always support me to adapt and improve.

Sharing her memories of the exam, Linh recalled: "On both days of the exam, I couldn't sleep. After finishing the literature exam, I had to take headache medicine to stay awake. The night before the social science exam, I burst into tears because I couldn't sleep.

But luckily I got through it in the end and did everything well."

Before checking her scores, Ngoc Mai shared that she went to eat red bean shaved ice to increase her luck. She also said that the first person to report her score was her friend.

"I also had hope that I would become valedictorian, but I was not too sure because I was informed that there was another candidate who got 10 points in literature. After knowing that I was the valedictorian of the country, I was flooded with congratulatory calls," Mai excitedly said.

Regarding future plans, Thuy Linh will enroll in Hanoi Pedagogical University. As for Ngoc Mai, she will enroll in Hanoi Law University.
