When looking up his high school graduation exam scores, Le Thanh Nguyen Huy - a 12A2 student at Duc Trong High School, Lam Dong Province, burst into happiness. Although he is a national excellent student, with an IELTS certificate of 8.0 since grade 10, Huy was still nervous while waiting for the official results. And then, the round number 10 in English appeared, making Huy unable to believe his eyes. The remaining scores of the male student were also very impressive: Math 8, Literature 8.25 and Chemistry 8 points.
The test is as difficult as IELTS, but still reaches the absolute mark
Sharing with reporters, Huy said he spent almost the entire 50 minutes doing the English test - which many candidates considered one of the most difficult exams in recent years.

"This year's exam has many strange words, long reading passages that can easily confuse and make students confused. In particular, the last 10 reading passages are very complicated, requiring excellent vocabulary, deep reading comprehension and quick information processing skills," Huy analyzed.
Although he was confident after checking the results at home, the male student was still unsure because he was worried that he might make a mistake when filling in the answers. "When I saw my score, I was both happy and nervous," Huy shared with a laugh.
Le Thanh Nguyen Huy was an excellent student at Duc Trong High School throughout his three years of high school. His average score for all subjects always fluctuated between 9.7 and 9.8, with English alone being 9.9 and 10 points.
Not only outstanding in class, Huy also won many consecutive prizes in excellent student competitions, such as the first prize at the provincial level in English from grade 9 and grade 11; second prize at the national excellent student competition in grade 12 (the highest achievement in Lam Dong province this year). This is also the basis for him to be eligible for direct admission to the English Pedagogy Department, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education.
Notably, since the summer of grade 10, Huy took the IELTS test and achieved band 8.0, in which Reading and Listening skills both achieved a perfect score of 9.0.
“For three years of study, Huy has been the class monitor, very obedient, gentle and an outstanding student. In addition, he is also studying French. This is a student with a high sense of responsibility, always exemplary in all activities of the class and the school" - commented Mr. Than Tuan, Head of the History - Geography - Economic and Legal Education Group - Duc Trong High School.
Dream of becoming a teacher to inspire
Unlike many of his peers who chose hot majors, Huy has only one wish: to become an English teacher. "I want to pursue a teaching career, like Mr. Huan (an English teacher at Duc Trong High School - PV) - who taught me English since grade 6, and was also the first person who inspired me to pursue this subject," Huy said.

According to the male student, to learn English well, self-study and perseverance play a key role. "In addition to doing exercises and practicing questions, I often watch movies, listen to podcasts, read English newspapers, and learn about current events to expand my vocabulary and reading comprehension skills. I think language ability must go hand in hand with social understanding to be applied well in exams and real life. There are no shortcuts. It's all about self-study, self-practice, and setting clear goals," Huy shared.
In the 2025 high school graduation exam, Lam Dong province had 312 candidates scoring 10 points in all subjects in the province, including: Geography 139, Physics 90, Economics and Law 42, History 20, Chemistry 11, Math 7, English 3, Biology 2, Information Technology 1, and Technology - Agriculture alone had 6 scores of 10 (this is also the subject in Lam Dong province with the 5th highest score of 10 in the provinces and cities nationwide).
