This is the opening event for The New Generation Of Model project initiated by model Xuan Lan.
The project includes exhibitions, photo books, and fashion videos documenting the journeys of generations of Vietnamese models, filmed in major fashion capitals around the world .
Fashion show in -8°C weather.
On the evening of March 14th, an art photography exhibition and the launch of the fashion film The New Generation Of Models 2024 took place at a studio in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City.
These images and videos were taken in South Korea.
Model Xuan Lan revealed that the crew initially planned to film on Nami Island – a location that was previously used as a setting in the drama "Winter Sonata." .
However, by the time the crew arrived, the snow had melted, leaving only two rows of trees. Meanwhile, the team's idea was to take photos against a backdrop of pristine white snow, so they had to move to another location, a four-hour drive away.
"To reach the new location, the crew had to walk for about 45 minutes in -8°C weather. To ensure beautiful photos and maintain the design's shape, the models did not wear thermal clothing."
"Because of the extremely cold weather, the models' hands and feet sometimes go numb. Some models have been abroad for many years but still can't tolerate such cold weather; they have difficulty breathing," Xuan Lan recounted.
She added that adults had to take off their coats to cover the children because the children were less able to withstand the heat.
Luckily, the crew completed the photoshoot and filming in two consecutive days without anyone getting hurt. This will probably be a memorable experience for both the model and the crew.

The spirit of resilience is evident in every photograph.
Xuan Lan said that 25 models are participating in The New Generation Of Models project in South Korea.
Besides Xuan Lan, Thuy Trang, Nguyen Hop, Tram Anh, Lam Thanh Nha, Thien An, Sarah Tran, Cherry Khanh My, Dai Phong, Huyen Trang, Minh Anh, Trong Phuong, Quynh Trang, Kien Dat… also showcased 50 designs from designer Tommy Tuong Le's Rainbow Snow collection.
Director Nguyen Ngoc Lam said this was the first fashion show that worried him the most. This is because the models were not yet accustomed to the cold weather and their hands could easily get frostbite.
To capture impressive photos, photographer Kieng Can and his team sometimes had to lie down in the snow or step into streams. This caused his clothing to freeze, making it impossible to remove.

Kieng Can told Tuoi Tre Online that the show didn't go as expected due to objective conditions, but he felt that the spirit in each photo reflected the effort and resilience of the models performing in the very cold environment.
"Despite the bone-chilling cold, the models accepted the freezing temperatures and threw snow at themselves to make the photos more vibrant. It's difficult, but it's a challenge that creates beautiful photos and videos."
"This was my first time shooting with real snow, and I was worried the model would get cold, so I shot as quickly as possible, following the model's expressions and emotions, without having time to calculate the shooting angle or review the photos," Kiếng Cận added.
