Founder of 'Nuoi Em' stops paying for feeding children after suspicions of financial opacity

Faced with a series of questions about transparency in revenue and expenditure, the founder of the project "Raising Children" suddenly announced a temporary suspension of spending money to feed the children.

On the evening of December 7, Hoang Hoa Trung - founder of the Nuoi Em project said he would work with Vietcombank on December 8 to freeze account 0491001764766 (later updated to 0711000280294).

The expected closing time is 15 days to compile all the income and expenditure over the past years. Closing the account means temporarily stopping the payment of money to feed the students in the project.

“Although I am very sorry and heartbroken, I will have to work with the schools and relevant agencies to temporarily stop spending money on feeding the children. This is the first time in the 11-year history of the project that it has had to temporarily stop, but at the present time, the community's trust in Nuoi Em is much more important.

I see myself and my team as responsible for being fully accountable, detailed, transparent and clear. During that time, it is much more important to suspend the project's operational activities to prioritize focusing on resolving the sponsors' concerns, " founder Hoang Hoa Trung announced.

Immediately after Hoang Hoa Trung posted the article, social networks immediately erupted in controversy. Many opinions said that the decision to temporarily stop paying money was unreasonable compared to the way the project collected money by school year: "People pay for the whole year, not by the day, so why stop just like that?", "The explanation is still not transparent, roundabout, not going straight to the point", "Collecting money for the whole year and then temporarily stopping, so how will that amount be handled?", or "The cost of raising children is usually advanced monthly, by period, how can we just stop just like that?".

The Feed the Children project was initiated in 2014 with the aim of providing quality meals to ethnic minority children. Each donor “adopts” a child through a small daily donation, helping schools maintain their kitchens and significantly reducing the rate of student dropouts.

However, on the evening of December 6, the incident related to the Nuoi Em charity project began to explode on social networks when many accounts posted text messages, questioning the financial transparency of the program.

One Threads user said he received a “foster” code and paid in August 2025. However, in November, the project continued to text asking for payment for the 2025-2026 school year, making them wonder why they had to pay twice in just three months.

Another case reflects that the child they adopted was actually removed from the list in January 2025, but the project only announced it in December 2025. Notably, in August 2025, the project still sent a message asking this person to continue contributing to the child.

Some accounts also discovered that their “foster” code was the same as someone else’s. In addition, the fact that the project has been operating for many years but still receives donations through the personal account number of founder Hoang Hoa Trung also makes many people doubt the transparency of the project.
