New research from Kaspersky reveals that over 77% of businesses in the Asia- Pacific (APAC) region have experienced at least one cybersecurity incident in the past two years.
Kaspersky conducted a study to consult with IT security professionals working in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and businesses worldwide about the potential impact human resources can have on an organization.
Accordingly, 24% of survey participants believe that one of the main reasons businesses are frequently targeted by cyberattacks is the shortage of highly skilled IT security personnel. When asked about solutions to enhance cybersecurity, 57% revealed that their businesses plan to invest in cybersecurity in the next 12 to 18 months.
Survey participants suggested various solutions to address cybersecurity vulnerabilities, and among them, 32% expressed a desire for businesses to invest in outsourced cybersecurity services.
According to the survey, 34% of businesses plan to invest in third-party professional services and decide to outsource MSP/MSSP (Managed Security Service Provider/Managed Security Service Provider) services to manage cybersecurity. The sectors most likely to invest in these services in the near future are critical infrastructure, energy, and oil and gas businesses.
Adrian Hia, Managing Director of Kaspersky Asia Pacific , commented: “Businesses in APAC have faced a cybersecurity shortage for many years. Kaspersky has proactively fostered partnerships with universities, governments, and NGOs in APAC to enhance national cybersecurity capabilities and cultivate cybersecurity talent in the region.”
