On the evening of October 14, after a heavy rain lasting more than 2 hours, many roads in the inner city of Can Tho were heavily flooded, jammed, and traffic at intersections was chaotic.

At the intersection of Nguyen Van Linh - 30/4; 3/2 - Nguyen Van Linh (Ninh Kieu district), traffic was jammed, with a long line of vehicles on the street. Many roads such as Tran Van Hoai, 30/4... were submerged in water.

People struggled to push their vehicles through flooded roads.

Heavy rain caused flooding right at rush hour, causing serious congestion at many intersections.

Mr. Au Trung Hau (living in Cai Rang district) said: “I left work at around 5pm, and when I got to the 3/2 - Nguyen Van Linh intersection, there was a traffic jam and I couldn’t move. It was past 7pm and I still hadn’t gotten home.”

Mr. Tin Lap (residing in Ninh Kieu district) said: “I traveled from 30/4 Street to Ba Bo Bridge on National Highway 91B, a route that normally takes me only about 10 minutes, but this afternoon it took me nearly 2 hours to get home. This is the heaviest rainstorm that has caused the most traffic jam since the beginning of the year.”

Heavy rain and lightning also caused many areas in Can Tho City to lose power for hours. At 8pm, the residential area of Can Tho University's faculty and staff still had no electricity.

"After the thunder and lightning caused a loud explosion, the area where my house lives lost power. It was past 8 p.m. and the power still hasn't come back on," said Mr. Hoai (living in An Khanh ward).
