The "Green Border Belt" tree planting program is a concrete implementation of President Ho Chi Minh's teachings on tree planting and reforestation; it is a practical response to the "Green Border Journey," contributing to the successful achievement of the Prime Minister 's plan to plant 1 billion trees and Resolution No. 16 dated October 10, 2021, of the Executive Committee of the Ha Giang Provincial Party Committee on sustainable forestry development in the 2021-2025 period.

The program contributes to widespread dissemination of information and raising awareness among officers and soldiers; officials, civil servants, and all segments of the population in the area about the position, role, value, and significance of reforestation. In particular, it creates an image of a green and peaceful border; helps regulate the climate, creates landscapes and ecological environments, contributes to tourism development; minimizes the impact of natural disasters such as erosion and landslides, and simultaneously brings practical economic benefits to the people.

At the launching ceremony, participating forces planted 5,000 cypress trees on an area of 0.5 hectares, creating a row 400 meters long and 125 meters wide along the border, 20 to 100 meters from the border towards Vietnamese territory. Cypress trees belong to the cypress family, reaching a height of 50-55 meters when mature. Cypress wood is soft, fragrant, and popular in the market; it is a coniferous tree that grows easily in cold weather.

The green shoots of the first phase have taken root and are growing. Natural barriers, green fences along the border, have gradually formed, contributing to affirming the country's sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, and enhancing the effectiveness of border management by the Border Guard.

Colonel Nguyen Quang Quyet, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Border Guard of Ha Giang province, stated that the Standing Committee and the Border Guard Command of Ha Giang have developed a Resolution and directed specialized agencies to build a plan for implementation with the aim of creating a green border and a peaceful border.
