The firecracker chants are soaked with sweat, tears and blood.
During the Dien Bien Phu campaign, heavy artillery pieces weighing tons were pulled up to the high mountain battlefields using only the shoulders and hands of the soldiers, along with their unwavering determination. Many brave soldiers sacrificed their lives to protect the artillery, to safeguard the efforts of countless others, and above all, to ensure the secrecy and ultimate victory of the battle. The resounding "Hoo-do ta nao" chants of our soldiers as they began pulling the artillery pieces became a source of encouragement, motivating the soldiers to fight to the victory, even if it meant "blood mixed with mud," their courage unwavering, their will unyielding. It also became the inspiration for composer Hoang Van's song "Ho Keo Phao" (Artillery Pulling Chant).
