A place blessed with numerous international tourism awards.

In recent years, Phu Quoc has consistently won international tourism awards thanks to its stunning natural landscapes, diverse forest and marine ecosystems, and increasingly完善 tourism infrastructure. This achievement not only affirms Phu Quoc's outstanding appeal on the international tourism map but also strengthens the island's position as a "new tourism paradise" of the world.

Affirming its appeal on the international tourism map.

Recently, at the World Travel Awards 2025 (WTA) ceremony held in Bahrain, Vietnam's tourism industry made a big impact with a series of awards in many categories. Prominent names such as Tam Dao, Moc Chau, Dong Van Karst Plateau, Phu Quoc, and many other tourist cities shone brightly, affirming the enduring appeal of the country's tourism sector. From islands and highlands to cities rich in cultural identity, Vietnam is constantly reaching out to the world with a new look and increasingly strong competitiveness.

Notably, at the awards ceremony dubbed the "Oscars of the tourism industry," Phu Quoc continued to make its mark by being named in several important categories, solidifying its position as a "new tourism paradise" of the world. In the most anticipated category, Phu Quoc won the title of "World's Leading Nature Island Destination 2025" for the fourth consecutive time.

In addition, many tourism products associated with the sunset, blue sea, and unique architecture of Phu Quoc were also honored, such as Bai Kem Beach, Sunset Town, and Kissing Bridge. For the first time, Bai Kem Beach was honored as “World's Leading Regional Beach 2025”. With its fine, creamy white sand, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and natural curves embracing the coastline, Bai Kem Beach stands out as one of the most beautiful beaches on the planet, blessed with perfect natural beauty.

Meanwhile, this is the second consecutive year that Sunset Town has been honored as “World’s Leading Iconic Tourist Attraction 2025”. Like a giant seaside art museum, Sunset Town is “painted” from Mediterranean architecture with colorful houses nestled on the hillside overlooking the harbor, along with slopes ablaze with flowers, creating a romantic landscape. In particular, it is famous for its sunsets, considered among the most beautiful in the world.

Similarly, the Kissing Bridge has been honored for the second consecutive year as “World’s Leading Iconic Tourist Bridge 2025”. Located right in Sunset Town, the Kissing Bridge boasts a unique design with two branches extending into the sea but not touching, instead spaced 30cm apart – just enough distance for a hug, a handshake, or a romantic kiss in the sunset. With this meaning, the Kissing Bridge has become a symbol of love, connection, and an emotionally charged touchpoint, attracting tourists in Phu Quoc.

In addition to the four awards mentioned above, in 2025, Phu Quoc continued to achieve many brilliant successes by consecutively conquering international tourism titles. One of the outstanding achievements is that Phu Quoc was voted by readers of the prestigious travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler into the list of "The Most Amazing Islands on the Planet". With a score of 95.51, the Pearl Island became the only representative of Vietnam on the list, leading Asia and ranking 3rd globally.

These awards are not only international recognition of Phu Quoc's beauty and charm, but also mark a significant step forward in the journey to elevate the Pearl Island to a global level. Perhaps this is also why Phu Quoc has become a preferred destination for international tourists. According to the latest data from the online travel platform Agoda, Phu Quoc leads in terms of interest from Asian and international families during the end-of-year and beginning-of-year travel period of 2025 and 2026. Specifically, in the ranking of destinations in Vietnam most searched for by international family travelers, Phu Quoc holds the top position, with a 47% increase in searches compared to the same period.

Not only attracting international tourists, Phu Quoc is also a favorite destination for many domestic travelers. Minh Ngoc (27 years old, Hanoi), a travel enthusiast who has explored many parts of Vietnam, considers Phu Quoc a "green gem" of the country. She recounted: "I recently took a trip to Phu Quoc at the end of November - the most beautiful time of the year. Even though I've been here about three times, Phu Quoc still amazed me with its beauty. The sea here left the deepest impression; the water is so clear you can see the bottom, a vibrant blue like a giant pane of glass."

“For me, Phu Quoc is not just a tourist destination, but a place that brings a rare sense of peace. Amidst its pristine beauty and modernity, the Pearl Island makes one feel serene. When I leave, I still carry with me a promise to return someday, to continue discovering the beautiful things that Phu Quoc has to offer,” Minh Ngoc shared.

"A golden opportunity" in the near future.

According to statistics, in the first 11 months of 2025, Phu Quoc tourism achieved outstanding results, far exceeding the targets and plans set for the year, with an estimated total of over 7.5 million visitors, exceeding the plan by 4.7%. International visitors were a highlight with nearly 1.6 million, an increase of 81%, exceeding the plan by 35%. Total revenue reached approximately 38,883 billion VND, exceeding the annual plan by 65.5%. Thus, along with many prestigious titles, the interest and experiences of tourists, and these impressive figures all affirm the outstanding attractiveness of Phu Quoc Island – a high-quality eco-tourism destination of international stature.

Significantly, these achievements stem not only from the breathtaking natural landscapes, diverse forest and marine ecosystems, or inherent advantages, but also from the strategic steps taken by An Giang province. The official designation of Phu Quoc as a special economic zone under An Giang province, following the merger of Kien Giang and An Giang provinces, marked a crucial turning point in its development, opening up numerous opportunities for this region.

Over the past period, An Giang province has identified the development of Phu Quoc as a marine economic center, a smart city, and a sustainable ecotourism destination, while promoting international integration and attracting high-quality investment resources. Simultaneously, the conservation of the ecological environment and the preservation of local cultural values have been emphasized throughout the development process, contributing to the creation of sustainable value for the Pearl Island.

Speaking to the media, Bui Quoc Thai, Director of the An Giang Department of Tourism, said that the province has submitted to the Prime Minister for approval the "Project to develop Phu Quoc into a high-quality eco-tourism and marine tourism center of national and international stature." This is a strategic foundation for sustainable and high-quality development of the Pearl Island. Key tasks to be implemented comprehensively aim to ensure the quality of infrastructure, services, travel, and compliance with tourism laws in Phu Quoc, in line with the orientation of developing high-quality tourism.

In the near future, Phu Quoc will host the APEC 2027 High-Level Week, the largest diplomatic event in the Asia-Pacific region. This is a "golden opportunity" for the Pearl Island to affirm its international standing and promote its image as a modern island tourism and economic center. To achieve this, Phu Quoc has been strengthening its diplomatic activities and international integration, implementing the motto "Every Phu Quoc citizen is a tourism ambassador."

Ahead of APEC 2027, Phu Quoc is also focusing on developing sustainable tourism and enhancing the experience with key directions: greening and digitizing the island; upgrading infrastructure; diversifying tourism products; effectively exploiting the pristine forest ecosystem, coral reefs, and biodiversity on the island; and combining it with local cultural experiences. Simultaneously, it is applying digital technology in tourism management, from booking and payment to accommodation management, tracking visitor numbers and market trends; optimizing promotion and boosting domestic and international communication; and strengthening strict tourism management to ensure a safe and convenient environment for tourists.

In addition, dozens of modern projects and constructions are being implemented to serve APEC 2027, including a convention center, a multi-functional complex, airport upgrades, transportation systems, urban development, and accommodation facilities. According to Bui Quoc Thai, Director of the An Giang Department of Tourism, the cooperation of the tourism business community is a key factor in ensuring that infrastructure and services are prepared quickly and meet international standards, and is crucial for the success of APEC 2027.
