
Earlier, Deputy Minister of Public Security Nguyen Van Long arrived at the scene to direct rescue and relief efforts and investigate the cause of the fire. Lieutenant General Tran Quoc To, Deputy Minister in charge of the Ministry of Public Security, also arrived at the scene.
Currently, the scene remains cordoned off by authorities.
Earlier, at around 0:30 AM on May 24th, a large fire broke out in a boarding house located in alley 98, lane 119, Trung Kinh Street (Cau Giay District, Hanoi ). The fire quickly spread intensely, accompanied by several loud explosions.
The fire occurred in a five-story rental building, with two rooms on each floor. The first floor housed an electric bicycle rental and repair shop.
Following firefighting efforts, the fire was extinguished at approximately 1:00 AM on May 24th. Residents in the area reported seeing many bodies being removed from the building. By 6:00 AM, initial reports indicated that 14 people had died at the scene and their bodies had been taken to the Transport Hospital. In addition, several other people were injured.
