In An Phu commune, fishing boat QNg 920.94 TS had its warning board closed due to lack of journey monitoring equipment and registration papers. This is one of 54 local fishing boats that do not meet the requirements; the border guards have closed the monitoring board for 22 boats, the rest have mostly not returned to their localities for many years. Lieutenant Nguyen Duc Phong, Head of Co Luy Border Control Station, said that the closing of the board is to ensure that boats do not set sail without completing the required conditions.
The Sa Ky Port Border Guard Station also coordinated with local authorities to organize 45 purchasing facilities and gas stations to sign a commitment not to assist violating vessels. Ms. Le Thi Bich Nhung, a seafood purchasing facility owner, said that the businesses agreed not to support unqualified vessels in order to work with the locality to remove the yellow card. According to Lieutenant Colonel Lam Dinh Hieu, the unit has increased propaganda, inspection and patrol on shore and on the river to promptly correct violations.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quang Ngai, the province has 4,850/4,850 fishing vessels registered and updated VNFishbase data, reaching 100%, and 4,733/4,733 vessels operating with licenses. From 2024 to present, 15 vessels violating foreign waters have been handled. Quang Ngai has completed 19/19 anti-IUU tasks under the direction of the Government, determined to join the whole country in building a safe and responsible fishing industry.
