On the same day, Quang Tri province held a ceremony to launch a nearly 6 trillion VND airport project and commence construction of a 480-hectare industrial park project in Hai Lang district.
On the morning of December 15th, the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee coordinated the groundbreaking ceremony for the Quang Tri Industrial Park project in Hai Lang district. The project is invested by a consortium of three entities: Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park Joint Venture Company Limited (VSIP); Amata Bien Hoa Urban Corporation (part of Amata Group of Thailand); and Sumitomo Corporation of Japan. According to the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, the Quang Tri Industrial Park project received investment approval from the Prime Minister in Decision No. 418/QD-TTg dated March 23, 2021, covering over 480 hectares with a total investment of over 2,000 billion VND. The project will be built in three phases; phase 1 covers approximately 97 hectares with a total investment of over 500 billion VND.

This industrial park boasts modern infrastructure, with investment projects focusing on a green, renewable energy model, committed to environmental protection and solutions to support the transition to clean renewable energy and minimize waste and emissions, in line with the country's rapid and sustainable development orientation. At the groundbreaking ceremony, the leaders of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee requested that relevant units actively coordinate, support, and create all favorable conditions for the investor to achieve the set plan and objectives. They emphasized resolving difficulties and obstacles, ensuring security, order, and labor safety to bring the project into operation as soon as possible. On the same day, Quang Tri province also held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Quang Tri Airport project. The project received investment approval from the Prime Minister in December 2021, and the feasibility study report was approved by the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee in August 2023. The facility meets the standards of a 4C-class airport according to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) classification, capable of accommodating Code E aircraft and a Class II military airport, meeting the operational needs of up to 5 million passengers per year and 25,500 tons of cargo per year. The project aims to meet the increasing demand for air transport, contributing to the promotion of political , economic, and social development, in line with the planning and development orientation of transportation. Simultaneously, it ensures high mobility in defense and rescue operations, guaranteeing national defense and security in the Central region in general and Quang Tri province in particular. vtc.vn
