(CLO) Tu Tho resettlement village, Te Xang commune, Tu Mo Rong district ( Kon Tum province) has just been recognized as a community tourism village. This is the first community tourism village in the capital of Ngoc Linh ginseng.
On the afternoon of January 14th, the People's Committee of Tu Mo Rong district held a ceremony to receive the decision from the People's Committee of Kon Tum province recognizing Tu Tho resettlement village as a community tourism village.
Accordingly, the Tu Thó community tourism village covers an area of nearly 5 hectares. Previously, the villagers lived in an area at risk of landslides. With the desire to help them settle down and establish their livelihoods, the People's Committee of Tu Mơ Rông district built the Tu Thó resettlement village and relocated them to a new place. After 5 years of relocation, the lives of the people have changed; they have learned to plant forests, cold-climate coffee, and valuable medicinal herb gardens such as ginseng and Ngọc Linh ginseng.
Kon Tum provincial leaders presented the decision and offered flowers to congratulate Tu Thó community tourism village.
Over the past period, under the guidance of the local authorities, the villagers have proactively collaborated to build accommodation; attended training courses to serve tourism; formed gong and food teams to serve guests; and beautified the flower gardens and village grounds.
The village has developed various activities to attract tourists, such as visiting the Ngoc Linh ginseng medicinal garden, admiring the terraced rice fields, viewing the cloud-hunting hills, conquering Ngoc Linh peak, admiring the waterfalls, and camping. Thanks to the stunning scenery and unique tourism options, the number of visitors to Tu Tho for sightseeing and relaxation is constantly increasing. As a result, the lives of the villagers are improving.
The Xơ Đăng people in Tu Thó village preserve their traditional weaving craft.
In 2024 alone, Tu Tho village welcomed 5,000 tourists. The village was also chosen to host two important events: the International Medicinal Herb Culinary Competition and the Ngoc Linh Ginseng Seminar, contributing to enhancing the value, protecting, and developing two precious medicinal herbs: vine ginseng and Ngoc Linh ginseng.
At the ceremony announcing the Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee's decision to recognize Tu Thó resettlement village as a community tourism village, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism presented the village with a valuable set of gongs to support tourism. In addition, the Tu Mơ Rông District People's Committee also organized an auction of 2.4 kg of Ngọc Linh ginseng to help Tu Thó resettlement village build a traditional Xơ Đăng longhouse to accommodate tourists and to restore the longhouse in Mô Pả village (Đăk Hà commune, Tu Mơ Rông district).
Mr. Nguyen Duc Tuy, Deputy Secretary of the Kon Tum Provincial Party Committee, presented a gong to Tu Tho Community Tourism Village.
On this occasion, the People's Committee of Tu Mo Rong district also auctioned off Ngoc Linh ginseng to "boost" the Tu Tho community tourism village.
Mr. Vo Trung Manh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tu Mo Rong District, said: “The recognition of Tu Tho resettlement village as a community tourism village will open up opportunities for the village to develop tourism in a professional and organized manner, linked to the preservation of the culture of the Xo Dang ethnic minority. From here, Tu Tho village will develop along three economic axes: agriculture, medicinal plants, and tourism. The district believes that with the foundation of its existing natural beauty, coupled with careful investment and preparation, Tu Tho Community Tourism Village will attract tourists for relaxation and health care. The village will “take off” thanks to community tourism, helping people earn more income and stabilize their lives on the very land that produces the national treasure Ngoc Linh ginseng.”
