Six administrative procedures on unemployment insurance on the National Public Service Portal

From now on, employees/employers can carry out 6 administrative procedures related to unemployment insurance online on the National Public Service Portal.

The Ministry of Interior has issued Decision No. 990/QD-BNV on the announcement of 6 administrative procedures on unemployment insurance to be piloted on the National Public Service Portal within the scope of the Ministry's state management functions.

Accordingly, the six provincial-level administrative procedures regarding unemployment insurance include: Processing unemployment benefit claims; Monthly job search notification; Temporary suspension of unemployment benefits; Resumption of unemployment benefits; Integrated procedure for transferring unemployment benefit entitlement (transferring from - transferring to); and Termination of unemployment benefits.

The Ministry of Interior's document specifies the process flowchart, sequence, and method of online implementation. It also includes the required documents and quantities; processing timeframes; eligible subjects, agencies, and expected results of administrative procedures; fees; application forms and declaration forms; and the requirements and conditions for carrying out administrative procedures.

Unemployment insurance policies were first stipulated in the Social Insurance Law of 2006 and implemented from January 1, 2009.

The unemployment insurance schemes stipulated in the 2025 Employment Law include: Unemployment benefits; Job counseling and placement support; Vocational training support; and Support for training, retraining, and upgrading vocational skills to maintain employment for workers.

According to Vietnam Social Security, by the end of August 2025, there were 14.103 million people participating in unemployment insurance nationwide, an increase of 84,400 people compared to the same period in 2022.
