Duy Tan University's General Practitioner students won third prize at the VBSF-Aplus 2025 National Carom Cup

Break out with the sport of billiards

In her second year of university, Khanh Linh held a cue stick in her hands for the first time and did not expect that the sport she chose to practice and entertain herself after stressful study hours would gradually become a great passion, firmly attached to her student journey. With an ever-growing passion for billiards, Khanh Linh made a specific plan to divide her time to ensure her studies at school, while being able to pursue her newly discovered passion.

“ At first, I played very poorly and lost all the time [laughs], but I knew that if I persevered and studied hard, I would improve. In my free time, I researched, watched instructional clips on Youtube, asked for advice from experienced people, and then spent time practicing every week. Billiards attracted me because of the combination of technique, tactical thinking, and composure. The more I played, the more I realized that this was not only a game of the hands but also a sport of the mind and courage. Each shot had to be carefully calculated and I also had to face the pressure of competition to conquer and achieve good results ,” Khanh Linh said.

When she felt that she had a stable performance, Khanh Linh registered to participate in professional tournaments, including the VBSF-Aplus 2025 National Carom Cup Championship. The 2025 National Youth Carom Championship and the VBSF-Aplus 2025 National Carom Cup Championship were organized by the Vietnam Billiards & Snooker Federation in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports & Tourism of Lam Dong province from September 10-17, 2025. The tournament attracted nearly 400 athletes from 13 teams from provinces and cities to compete in the following events:

3-cushion Carom for Men,
Carom 1 cushion Men,
3-Cushion Carom Women, and
3-Cushion Carom for Young Players.

Competing in the Women's 3-Cushion Carom category, beautiful player Khanh Linh caused a "shock" when she continuously won against strong opponents:

Eliminated reigning national champion Nguyen Thi Lien with a 25-23 victory,
Overcoming the most veteran of Vietnam's 3-cushion Carom, Phung Kien Tuong, with a score of 23-18.
Defeated player Luong Thi Thom in the Quarterfinals with a score of 25-18, entering the Top 4 best players of the tournament.

Although losing 25-30 in the Semi-finals to the runner-up of the tournament, Nguyen Thi Thu Hien, Khanh Linh's efforts and many unexpected breakthroughs throughout the tournament left a strong impression on professional players and viewers.

Previously, player Khanh Linh also won many high prizes at large-scale tournaments such as:

Won the Style Award at the tournament organized by HBSF 2024,
3rd place in Songto at Sao Club in 2024,
Won Gold Medal at the 3rd DTU Medical and Pharmaceutical Sports Festival in 2025,
Win the 52 Club's internal tournament in 2025,
3rd place in the internal tournament at Hung Nui Club in 2025,
3rd place in 3-cushion Carom (B-, C class) at the 2nd Niz Bkpro Club in 2025,
Champion of 3-cushion Carom (B-, C class) at Niz Bkpro Club for the 3rd time in 2025,
Won the Songto event at Badi Club in 2025.

Although not trained as professionally as professional athletes, Khanh Linh can still compete equally on the big stage thanks to her perseverance, spirit of continuous learning and true passion for this sport.

Study hard with the dream of becoming a Cosmetic Doctor

With a passion for billiards, Khanh Linh always determined that studying is the most solid and important foundation to realize the dream of becoming a Cosmetic Doctor that she always pursues with all her seriousness. Although she may be surprised by her success in the sports field, Linh still spends most of her time studying, acquiring professional knowledge, and practicing medical skills at Duy Tan University.

“The field of General Medicine has a huge amount of knowledge, from anatomy, physiology to clinical skills that require a lot of practice. Therefore, I must always proactively absorb the knowledge that teachers share in class as well as self-study at home to maintain continuous concentration and always remember important information. I believe that only with a solid foundation of medical knowledge can I perform cosmetic surgeries safely and effectively, helping people feel more confident with their own beauty,” Khanh Linh said.

The most impressive thing for Khanh Linh is the lessons at the " Miniature Hospital " (MedSIM) of Duy Tan University, where Khanh Linh's skillful hands directly manipulated patient models in the practice room to perfect her professional skills. She always actively participated in internships at hospitals and cosmetic clinics to learn from senior doctors and get familiar with the process of patient care and treatment.

The relatively “proper” time allocation has helped Khanh Linh both study well and have time to participate in her favorite sport. Every day of the dynamic, strong and enthusiastic Gen Z student at Duy Tan University is extremely meaningful when she can do what she likes, strive to contribute to her personal dreams and good wishes for the community in the future.
