Speaking about the risks to users of low-quality cosmetics, Dr. Vu Thai Ha, Head of the Stem Cell Research and Application Department at the Central Dermatology Hospital, said that using low-quality cosmetics not only causes acne breakouts, but patients with severe complications may face symptoms such as edema, deep scarring, facial skin damage, and in some cases, death due to lead poisoning.
To treat patients who have used counterfeit or unverified cosmetics, especially those containing corticosteroids, doctors must base their treatment plan on the severity of the damage and the type of condition. Treatment is lengthy and costly.
For safe beauty practices, Dr. Le Huu Doanh, Director of the Central Dermatology Hospital, advises that people should pay attention to proper beauty treatments. They must purchase products with clear origins, sold at reputable establishments, and with clearly labeled packaging, standards, registration numbers, and expiration dates.
Before deciding to use any product for skin care or to treat acne and dark spots, it's advisable to consult a dermatologist. Additionally, everyone should have basic knowledge about potential side effects of cosmetics to proactively prevent, avoid, and address them promptly.
Additionally, before using any cosmetic product, it's necessary to test for allergic reactions by applying a small amount to the skin on the inside of your wrist and waiting for a while to see if there are any signs of irritation before deciding whether to continue using it.
According to experts, after using cosmetics, if you notice any signs of burning, redness, itching, or breakouts, you should stop using them immediately and wash the affected area thoroughly to minimize the impact.
"Once you notice signs of an allergic reaction, absolutely do not use other cosmetic products, avoid touching or squeezing the affected area, and limit sun exposure. If the condition worsens, consult a dermatologist for optimal treatment," advised the head of the National Dermatology Hospital.
