The memorial ceremony was held solemnly with the participation of representatives from the Gia Lai Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, leaders of Tuy Phuoc commune, representatives of the People's Committees of Vinh Thanh 1 and Vinh Thanh 2 villages, the Dao clan, and local people.

Following the solemn incense offering ceremony accompanied by respectful music in remembrance of the poet and playwright Dao Tan, the delegates enjoyed several excerpts of Dao Tan's traditional opera performances right at the Học Bộ Đình (within the grounds of the Dao Tan Temple).

Amateur hat boi (traditional Vietnamese opera) performers presented several excerpts: Quan Cong escorting his two sisters-in-law (from the play "Co Thanh" ), and Tiet Cuong resisting the hammer (from the play "Ho Sanh Dan "). This was not only a form of ceremonial singing but also an opportunity to promote the heritage and help the public gain a deeper understanding of Binh Dinh's hat boi art, which was meticulously cultivated by Mr. Dao Tan.

In addition, on the nights of September 5th to 7th (corresponding to the 14th to 16th of the 7th lunar month), the Dao Tan Traditional Opera Troupe (belonging to the Gia Lai Provincial Traditional Arts Theater) will also perform traditional opera for the public at the Dao Tan Temple courtyard.

Dao Tan, also known as Dao Dang Tan (1845 - 1907), with the pen names Chi Thuc, Mong Mai and To Giang, and the nickname Tieu Linh Phong Mai Tang, was born in Vinh Thanh village, Tuy Phuoc district, Binh Dinh province (now Vinh Thanh 1 village, Tuy Phuoc commune, Gia Lai province). In his youth, he studied under Nguyen Dieu, a renowned scholar from Nhon An village, Tuy Phuoc district.
Dao Tan passed the Bachelor's examination, ranking 3rd out of 18 in the Dinh Mao year, the 20th year of Tu Duc's reign (1867) at the Binh Dinh examination center. Serving under three emperors, Tu Duc, Dong Khanh, and Thanh Thai, he held many positions from Tham Bien (Deputy Governor) to Phu Doan (Governor) of Thua Thien, Tong Doc (Governor-General of An Tinh), then Thuong Thua (Minister of Public Works), and Thua Thien (Minister of Justice); he was also bestowed the title of Hiep Bien Dai Hoc Si (Associate Grand Scholar) - Vinh Quang Tu (Prince of Vinh Quang)...

Dao Tan was not only an honest and upright official under the Nguyen dynasty, but also a poet, lyricist, and composer of traditional Vietnamese opera (hat boi). However, his greatest achievement was his work in hat boi, leaving behind a vast legacy of plays such as: Tan Da Don, Co Thanh, Ho Sanh Dan, Tram Huong Cac, Hoang Phi Ho Qua Gioi Bai Quan, Dien Vo Dinh... In addition, he revised many other plays, such as: Son Hau, Tam Nu Do Vuong, Dao Phi Phung… He is revered as the founder of hat boi art.
