General Secretary To Lam meets with Chairman of the Senate and Chairman of the House of Representatives of Belarus

The leaders of the Belarusian National Assembly warmly welcomed General Secretary To Lam and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, representing the heroic Vietnamese people, on a state visit to Belarus on the occasion of the two countries solemnly celebrating important events, including the 80th anniversary of the victory over fascism and the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification. The Belarusian National Assembly was honored to send a delegation led by Vice Chairman of the House of Deputies V. Ipatov to attend the April 30th Anniversary Ceremony.

The leaders of the Belarusian National Assembly congratulated the Vietnamese people on their achievements in national development and congratulated General Secretary To Lam on being awarded the Friendship Medal by President A. Lukashenko, demonstrating Belarus' recognition of the General Secretary's great contributions to the bilateral relationship.

The Belarusian National Assembly leader assessed the visit of General Secretary To Lam as a historic visit and the agreements just signed during the visit are a new future for bilateral relations.

General Secretary To Lam expressed his joy at revisiting the beautiful country of Belarus in his new position and was moved by the warm and sincere welcome from the leaders and people of Belarus, including the National Assembly and political parties of Belarus. The General Secretary congratulated the Belarusian people on their achievements in developing the country and enhancing its international status.

The General Secretary stressed that Vietnam always attaches importance to the traditional friendship with Belarus, which was established in 1957 when President Ho Chi Minh visited Belarus, and expressed gratitude for Belarus's wholehearted support for the past struggle for national liberation and reunification and Vietnam's development today.

General Secretary To Lam and the leaders of the Belarusian National Assembly agreed to bring bilateral relations into a new stage in a new era of development with specific measures. In the spirit of the Strategic Partnership that the two sides have just upgraded, in the context of many complex changes in the world, the leaders agreed to increase delegation exchanges and contacts at all levels, especially at high levels, increase import-export turnover, science and technology, education and training, culture and tourism with consideration of opening direct flights soon, people-to-people exchanges, and further strengthening cooperation between localities.

Regarding parliamentary cooperation and party-to-party cooperation, the two sides agreed to increase delegation exchanges through the National Assembly and Party channels, strengthen supervision of signed documents, especially the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union; increase information and experience exchange in Party work, legislative work, parliamentary activities, increase exchanges between specialized committees, between friendship parliamentarian groups and young parliamentarians; support each other at multilateral political-party forums, inter-parliamentary forums such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA)... and move towards having common initiatives at international parliamentary forums.

The General Secretary thanked and hoped that the Belarusian National Assembly would continue to create conditions for the Vietnamese community to live, study and work in Belarus, making positive contributions to the development of Belarus and the traditional friendship between the two countries.

On this occasion, Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova and Chairman of the House of Representatives Igor Sergeyenko sent their regards and invitation to Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man to visit Belarus soon. The General Secretary respectfully conveyed the regards and invitation of Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man to Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova and Chairman of the House of Representatives Igor Sergeyenko to visit Vietnam soon. The Belarusian National Assembly leaders happily accepted the invitation./.
