
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just issued a decision approving the investment policy and approving Vinspeed High-Speed Railway Investment and Development Joint Stock Company as the investor for the Ben Thanh - Can Gio railway project.
The project's objective is to build a railway line connecting the center of Ho Chi Minh City to Can Gio in order to realize the strategy and planning for the development of the transport system and the railway system, promoting the socio-economic development of localities in the Southern key economic region in particular and the Southeast region in general.
The project is built with double track, 1,435mm gauge, with a main line length of more than 54km, a design speed of 350km/h, and an axle load of 17 tons/axle. The station project includes 2 stations in phase 1 including Ben Thanh and Can Gio stations and 4 stations in phase 2 (when needed) including Tan Thuan, Tan My, Nha Be, and Binh Khanh stations; 1 depot is expected to be located in Can Gio commune, 1 control center (OCC) located in Can Gio commune.
Preliminary total investment is about 102,430 billion VND (not including about 12,784 billion VND in site clearance costs guaranteed by the state budget).
The project's operating term is 70 years from the date the competent authority issues the investment policy decision and simultaneously approves the investor.
The progress of basic construction and putting the project into operation or exploitation is 30 months from the date of land allocation decision by the competent authority, ensuring the exploitation and operation time in 2028 (excluding 4 stations of phase 2).
During the implementation process, the investor is responsible for ensuring the capacity to carry out the project according to the committed schedule. The investor must balance the investment capital to ensure the capacity to carry out the project and is responsible for determining the total investment capital of the project in accordance with the regulations...
The Ben Thanh - Can Gio railway project has its starting point at September 23rd Park (Ben Thanh Ward), and its ending point at a 39-hectare land plot adjacent to the Can Gio coastal urban tourism project (Can Gio Commune).
The basic planned project route starts at Km0+00 in September 23rd Park, the route runs along the park land parallel to Le Lai Street, to Nguyen Thai Hoc Street, then changes direction along Ky Con Street, crossing Ben Nghe Canal.
After crossing Ben Nghe canal, the route turns northeast to enter Hoang Dieu street, the route follows Hoang Dieu street to the intersection with Nguyen Tat Thanh street, turns southeast, closely following the corridor of Doan Nhu Hai street.
The route goes straight through Nha Rong port area to near Tan Thuan 2 bridge area, the route turns southeast to Nguyen Van Linh street through the intersection with Nguyen Thi Thap street to Tan My ward.
The route continues south, crossing the intersection between Nguyen Van Linh Street and Phu My Bridge to Nguyen Luong Bang Street. The route turns southeast, going between Nguyen Luong Bang Street, Road 15B, Road D1 to Rach Dia River overpass at Km9+800 to Nha Be Commune.
After passing Nha Be commune, the route turns southeast through Van Phat Hung resettlement area, Phu Xuan residential area and crosses Soai Rap river to Binh Khanh commune and runs to Can Gio station.
