According to Xinhua News Agency, on July 10, China's Ministry of Commerce announced it would launch a formal investigation into trade and investment barriers related to regulations applied by the European Union (EU) in its anti-subsidy investigation against Chinese companies.
The investigation was conducted at the request of the National Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Equipment.
The complaints mainly concern products such as locomotives, photovoltaic equipment, wind power, and security inspections.
The investigation could last until January 10, 2025, and possibly an additional three months in exceptional circumstances.
Trade relations between the EU and China have escalated in recent months after Brussels announced temporary tariffs of up to 38.1% on electric cars imported from the Asian partner, effective July 4th.
