The Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province, Dao Quang Khai, has just signed Decision No. 127/QD-UBND on the task of detailed planning at a scale of 1/500 for the Foreign Trade University.
According to the decision, the Foreign Trade University is a national institution for training high-quality human resources, but the facilities and campuses at its three locations in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Quang Ninh are still limited.
In reality, the Hanoi campus already has around 15,000 students enrolled, but it lacks a football field, a swimming pool, and even the dormitories are small, meeting only a very small fraction of the demand.
The campus in Ho Chi Minh City lacks both sports training grounds and dormitories. Meanwhile, the dormitories at the Quang Ninh campus are small and dilapidated. The working space for lecturers in some departments and offices is also limited.

Therefore, the detailed planning will serve as the basis for the project to expand the training facilities of the Foreign Trade University in Bac Ninh province.
Accordingly, the area for detailed planning is Dong Nguyen ward, Tu Son city. This location is approximately 30km from the Hanoi campus of the Foreign Trade University, with a travel time of about 60 minutes by car.
This location is strategically situated near several provincial roads, including provincial roads 287, 295, and 295C (including the future urban railway line), and numerous ongoing projects. The area covers approximately 33.66 hectares.
Phase 1, from 2026 to 2030, aims to train approximately 5,500 students.
In phase 2, from 2030 to 2040, the total training target will increase to approximately 12,000 students (excluding staff and lecturers of over 800 people).
The Bac Ninh campus of the Foreign Trade University is expected to have all the necessary facilities, including an administrative and faculty area, lecture halls, a library, dormitories, an auditorium, an off-campus sports center, a multi-purpose hall, and a park…
Funding for the project will come from the school's financial plan and other legal sources. The People's Committee of Bac Ninh province has set a deadline of no more than 6 months from the date of signing the contract with the consulting unit.
Besides the Foreign Trade University, the second campus of Hanoi Law University is under construction in Tu Son city, covering an area of nearly 28 hectares, with a total investment of over 1,700 billion VND.
The investment projects to build the second campus of Hanoi University of Pharmacy in Vo Cuong ward (Bac Ninh city) and the second campus of Hanoi University of Natural Resources and Environment in Dong Nguyen ward (Tu Son town) are receiving attention, encouragement, and coordination from Bac Ninh province.
