On the afternoon of September 18th, the Department of Industry and Trade, in coordination with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thanh Hoa province, the Provincial Police, the Market Management Department, and the People's Committee of Hau Loc district, organized a conference to disseminate information about the "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods" campaign and to identify signs of illegal multi-level marketing schemes to officials, civil servants, and residents in the district.

Overview of the conference.
At the conference, officials, civil servants, and residents in Hau Loc district were informed and introduced to the basic contents of the "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods" campaign and the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program. They were guided on how to distinguish between multi-level marketing and other forms of sales. Delegates were also introduced to local regulations on managing multi-level marketing; warnings about illegal multi-level marketing schemes, acts of exploiting multi-level marketing for illicit profit, and defrauding consumers; and the legal responsibilities and risks of individuals who entice or persuade people to participate in disguised multi-level marketing activities.
This is one of the contents of the Project to Improve the Effectiveness of State Management in Multi-Level Marketing Business Activities in Thanh Hoa Province during the 2021-2025 period. Through propaganda activities, the aim is to create unified awareness and action within the Party and the political system, social consensus, and the collective efforts of all sectors of the population in promoting the "Vietnamese People Prioritize Using Vietnamese Goods" campaign and managing multi-level marketing business activities.

Delegates attending the conference.
According to authorities, multi-level marketing activities are still being distorted in many ways, with increasingly sophisticated and complex tactics. The prevalence of counterfeit and substandard goods continues to raise doubts among consumers about the quality of Vietnamese products. Therefore, in the coming period, the Department of Industry and Trade will continue to coordinate with relevant agencies to promote awareness campaigns and disseminate legal information to emphasize the role and responsibility of businesses in improving product quality; encourage and mobilize the participation of all segments of the population in promoting the "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods" campaign and developing OCOP products. Simultaneously, it will help people stay updated on multi-level marketing practices and identify fraudulent multi-level marketing schemes to avoid potential risks.
