According to UNESCO's assessment, Vietnam's dossier fully meets the criteria for inscription, while emphasizing that the number of skilled artisans has decreased sharply, with only a few households maintaining the profession due to the young generation's lack of interest, the profession is difficult to ensure livelihoods and the demand for woodblock prints in traditional ceremonies has decreased. The number of highly skilled and dedicated people is too small to maintain the teaching and making of paintings, so the profession needs urgent protection.
The heritage protection plan sets out seven objectives, including opening training classes, inventorying heritage, designing patterns, diversifying markets, improving access to materials, and providing protective equipment for artisans.
To date, Vietnam has 37 UNESCO-listed heritage sites, with Bac Ninh possessing many outstanding ones such as Quan Ho Bac Ninh folk singing, Dong Ho painting, Ca Tru singing, Mother Goddess worship, Huu Chap tug-of-war, and heritage sites belonging to the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son and Kiet Bac complexes.
