(Fatherland) - On the evening of November 24, in Madeira (Portugal), the World Travel Awards announced Vietnam as the World's Leading Heritage Destination in 2024. This is the 5th time Vietnam has been honored in this category, the previous times were in 2019, 2020, 2022, 2023.
This year, Vietnam surpassed other candidates for this category such as Armenia, Brazil, Egypt, Greece, Japan, and Saudi Arabia to win this prestigious award.
The title of World's Leading Heritage Destination once again affirms the potential and leading attraction of unique heritage values with a system of 9 world natural and cultural heritages, 15 intangible cultural heritages, and 10 documentary heritages honored by UNESCO.
The central area of Thang Long Imperial Citadel - Hanoi was recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage Site.
By maintaining the title of World's Leading Heritage Destination, Vietnam will continue to promote and attract international visitors to explore the beautiful country of Vietnam and its long-standing cultural heritage, creating momentum for comprehensive, rapid and sustainable tourism recovery and development in the coming time.
In addition to the title of World's Leading Heritage Destination 2024, Vietnam also has local destinations that have been awarded world-leading awards. Hanoi was honored to receive the title of "World's Leading Tourism Management Agency 2024". Phu Quoc Island won the title of "World's Leading Natural Island Destination 2024". Ha Nam won the "Special Achievement Award 2024". Tam Dao won the title of "World's Leading Tourist Town 2024", along with many other world-leading awards for outstanding Vietnamese airlines, travel agencies, and tourism businesses.
