This morning, December 28th, the Provincial Women's Union held a conference to summarize its activities and women's movement in 2023, and to implement tasks for 2023; and to review the first three years of implementing the "Accompanying Women in Border Areas" program, 2021-2023. Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Hoang Nam, attended the conference.

Under the theme "Focus on building grassroots Women's Union branches, with the main focus on improving the capacity of grassroots Women's Union officials," in 2023, Women's Union branches at all levels flexibly and proactively implemented the contents of the work program and plan with many creative and effective approaches.

Notably, 1,516 new members were recruited, bringing the total number of members to 133,033, an increase of 1.15% compared to 2022. 100% of local branches implemented "Waste Sorting at Source"; and 106 models of "household waste sorting and treatment" were launched.

The "Green House" models, which organize the collection of recyclable waste, raised over 654.2 million VND. From this fund, health insurance cards, gifts, and livelihood models were provided to poor women members. 2,923 poor and near-poor households with women received assistance in various forms, including 2,192 households with poor women receiving targeted sponsorship. 235 households escaped poverty or near-poverty, achieving 8% of the total number of poor households with women, exceeding the set target.

Coordinating the organization of 101 vocational training classes for 2,694 female members; supporting the start-up of businesses and mobilizing resources to support the establishment of 18 out of 184 new liên kết groups, cooperatives, and associations. Many activities attracted the participation of all levels, sectors, organizations, individuals, female members, and the people, such as: the "Godmother" program, "Accompanying Women in Border Areas," the folk dance training movement, the Ao Dai week, etc.

We mobilized resources to implement activities expressing gratitude and remembrance of our roots, as well as humanitarian and charitable activities, totaling over 11 billion VND.

Focus on effectively implementing the activities of Project 8 under the National Target Program for socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, "Implementing gender equality and addressing some urgent issues for women and children," and mobilize various resources to implement programs and projects supporting women and children in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.

During the period 2021-2023, the Provincial Women's Union and the Provincial Border Guard Command, in coordination with relevant agencies, units, and localities, implemented the "Accompanying Women in Border Areas" program with significant results. This contributed to changing mindsets and practices, helping women to assert themselves and make positive contributions to socio-economic development and border protection in the province.

Many meaningful activities have been carried out for women in border areas, such as: the "Spring in the Border - Deepening Love" program, "Compassionate Tet - Warming the Hearts of Border Guards in the Villages"; "Spring in the Border - Loving Tet"...; visiting, giving gifts, and supporting livelihood models; supporting the construction of shelters of love, sanitary toilets, sending messages of support, giving gifts to poor women members and scholarships for poor students with difficult circumstances and children of border guard officers and soldiers...

In 2024, the provincial Women's Union branches will focus on effectively implementing the theme "Promoting the application of information technology in the Union's activities." The goal is for each district, town, and city to develop and implement at least one model, initiative, or solution applying information technology to fulfill the year's theme.

100% of district-level units participated in the "Application of Information Technology in Organizing Women's Union Activities" competition with high quality. 100% of Women's Union branches at the commune, ward, and town levels were equipped with their own computers and internet access. 100% of Women's Union branches at the district and commune/ward/town levels organized at least one activity to enhance knowledge and skills in applying information technology for their members and women.

At the conference, the Women's Union branches of districts, towns, and cities, as well as the Women's Union branches of the armed forces, signed a pledge to compete in implementing the 2024 theme: "Promoting the application of information technology in the activities of the Women's Union."

On this occasion, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 6 collectives that have achieved many accomplishments in implementing the 2023 theme: "Building the modern woman of Quang Tri, building a strong and developing women's association"; the Provincial Women's Union awarded Certificates of Merit to 44 collectives and 18 individuals who have achieved many accomplishments in the emulation movement and activities of the Union in 2023, and awarded a Certificate of Merit to Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Dao, a member of the Standing Committee of the Women's Union of Ho Xa town, Vinh Linh district, for her outstanding achievements in participating in the "Women's Entrepreneurship, Promoting Local Resources" competition in 2023.

The Provincial Border Guard Command awarded certificates of merit to 11 collectives and 3 individuals; the Provincial Women's Union awarded certificates of merit to 4 collectives and 6 individuals for their outstanding achievements in the 3-year implementation of the "Accompanying Women in Border Areas" program from 2021-2023. The Provincial Women's Union also awarded prizes for the "Women Starting Businesses and Developing Local Resources" competition in 2023, including: 1 Special Prize, 1 First Prize, 2 Second Prizes, 4 Third Prizes, and 5 Consolation Prizes. The Special Prize went to Ms. Nguyen Thi Hang, Director of Khe Sanh Clean Agricultural Products Cooperative (Huong Tan commune, Huong Hoa district) for her high-quality coffee production and processing model.
