According to the Ho Chi Minh City Statistics Office, trade and service revenue in the area in May continued to grow, with abundant and diverse goods. Revenue from tourism and travel groups decreased slightly compared to the previous month due to increased demand for travel during the April holiday.

In the first 5 months of the year, the total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in Ho Chi Minh City is estimated at nearly VND 460,000 billion, up 10.2% over the same period. In May 2024 alone, it is estimated to reach more than VND 93,000 billion, up 2.1% over the previous month and up 4.4% over the same period.

Retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in Ho Chi Minh City grew impressively.

Revenue from retail sales of goods in May 2024 is estimated at more than VND 44,000 billion, accounting for 47.9% of total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue, up 1.3% over the previous month and up 7% over the same period.

All industry groups increased, but the group with the highest increase was: Household appliances, tools and equipment increased by 12.7%; gasoline and oil of all kinds increased by 23.7%; gems, precious metals and products increased by 13.5%.

In the first 5 months of 2024, the estimated retail sales of goods reached nearly 220,000 billion VND, up 9.3% over the same period. Some groups had high growth rates over the same period, such as household appliances, tools and equipment, wood and construction materials, precious stones, precious metals and products.

Revenue from accommodation and catering services in May 2024 is estimated at over VND 10,500 billion, accounting for 11.3% of total retail sales of goods and consumer services revenue, up 2.8% over the previous month. Of which, accommodation revenue decreased by 1.1% over the previous month and increased by 24.8% over the same period; catering service revenue increased by 3.5% over the previous month.

In the first 5 months of 2024, the revenue from accommodation and catering services is estimated to reach more than VND 51,000 billion, up 8.7% over the same period. Of which, accommodation increased by nearly 50% and catering services increased by 3.8%. Revenue from travel services is estimated to reach more than VND 15,000 billion, up 65% over the same period. In May 2024 alone, it is estimated to reach more than VND 3,247 billion, up 47.8% over the same period.

Revenue from other services in the first 5 months of 2024 is estimated at over VND 172,000 billion, up 8.6%. Of which, revenue from real estate business is estimated at over VND 101,000 billion, accounting for 59% of other service revenue, up 7.4%.
