BPO - Once a crop that enriched many farming households, pepper plants in Binh Phuoc province have been frequently affected by diseases in recent years, causing many pepper plantations to die. To help pepper growers replant and restore their pepper gardens, Binh Phuoc has so far provided loans totaling over 1,412 billion VND.
Thanks to loan support policies, many pepper gardens in Binh Phuoc have been replanted.
Of the total outstanding loan amount exceeding 1.412 billion VND, more than 6,400 pepper farmers whose crops died received loans. Through this funding, many households have rebuilt and replanted pepper plants or switched to other agricultural models.
Besides facilitating loans, in 2024, banks in the province restructured the principal and interest repayment terms for 830 pepper farmers; reduced interest for 6,394 customers, with a total interest reduction of 14.34 billion VND.
The high pepper prices in 2024 helped pepper farmers earn a higher income.
According to the 2024 harvest market, pepper prices have started to rise again, at times reaching 150,000 VND/kg, helping farmers who persevere in pepper cultivation to earn a relatively high income. This success is due not only to the application of scientific and technical advancements by pepper growers in care and disease management, but also to the strong support from government policies, including providing loans to pepper growers facing difficulties.
